I have turned so sad in my old age. I love getting new appliances. We got a new hoover a couple of weeks ago and I was so excited to be hoovering. I was going round saying "look how much he has got up" like a demented loon

My friend and I realised we were getting old last weekend when we went to Debenhams and headed not for the shoes, but the homewares, where we spent ages browsing.....'Isn't that a lovely chopping board?'....'OOH, I could really do with some new pans'
