I started taking a/c 12 days ago, along with royal jelly.

Af came 30th Jul and has not buggered off since.

I've been reading up on a/c and it's effects. From what i read it helps with progesterone levels.

I found this little snippet of info:

If you have been on the Mini Pill or Depo-Provera injection, you may have unnaturally high progesterone/ low oestrogen levels, causing irregular, light periods and low mood.

So, now i'm not sure whether to keep on taking it or not, and whether this is whats causing the constant bleeding.

Any opinions girls??

Hmm Im kind of in the opposite problem but maybe linked Kred. Ive been taking agnus castus now for 2 weeks as I have had no af since the 9th May. I have got low estrogen levels confirmed but was on the depo provera injection for 7 years. Ive had no positive opks so I dont think Im ovulating. So now Im debating not taking it because Ive not had an af rather than had a long one.

Im now wondering if Ive jumped on the agnus castus band wagon as it has so many good effects but perhaps haven't fully appreciated the effects it can have!

Hi laurat,

I started taking it as i had no af for 5 months after finishing depo. Now it seems it's giving me the ones i missed lol!

I know i ovulate as i got pg 2 weeks after finishing depo, but it didnt stick due to lack of lining etc.

I also had a scan in june which showed me ov'ing. I started taking it to bring on af if you know what i mean. I read it's good for balancing progesterone but it never said about eostrogen. I assume i'm low on eostrogen too as depo is progesterone based.

So maybe a'c isn't really that helpful in our situations??

Should we be looking at helping eostrogen levels not progesterone?

I'm assuming our lack of af is because eostrogen helps the uterine lining build up to prepare for implantation, if that fails progesterone starts af. So, if we have low eostrogen, there is insufficient lining to come away, hence no af??

God, It's all a bit confusing??

lol!

Coming off depo I had no af for a year but think that was also due to weight issues as well. I lost weight and got a regular af back with regular ovulation and got pregnant in February but miscarried as well. I am now also thinking that lack of lining is something to do with this due to the depo. The mc also made my cycle go no existent since May 9th after bleeding every 2 weeks for 3 months.

I have googled low estrogen and I read something about a natural remedy called metaformin on naturalhormones.net. It balances your estrogen levels but put a post in lttc and had no reply from anyone about experience of it so ws hesitant to take it.

I know that depo is a proestrogen only contraceptive so this can lead to the low estrogen. The main point in agnus castus is to boost proestrogen so it may not be the right thing to take. However as far as I am aware my proestrogen level was normal and not high so I have also read stuff about agnus castus that says it can balance or just assist with ovulation which is why I took it.

I have a fertility appointment two weeks on Friday and have had blooods taken again today. I am thinking pehaps I will just stop taking it as meddling with even herbal remedies may be hindering or changing things it may not be. Reading your experience has also made me think this too.

I am also taking the royal jelly too. Im just so confused.

I have an appt with my gp nxt weds so i'll ask her opinion on it.

I've stopped the ac now and taking just royal jelly, as that is not just for fertility.

I think depo has alot to answer for and i think it should be taken off the market. reading other peoples experiences on it has been insightful, and in no way was i ever made aware of the long lasting effect it can have on fertility.

I hope you get some answers at your appt- pls let me know what they say. I haven been ttc long enough for me to see a fertility specialist, but it would be interesting what the say regards the eostrogen/progesterone thing and if it has something to do with the depo.

As for the metaformin, i may try it. as i have only been ttc for 5 months, the worst it can do is mess my cycles up, as they are they're screwed anyways!!

Just wanted to say metaformin is what they give type 2 diabetics to treat their condition :)

Oh yes, just read up on it.

It says for people with bmi above 25 and pcos.

That counts me out then, better not mess with it :(

Ooops typed this without reading my other post. Wrong thing its called macafem not what I said up there!!!

Ahhh, yeah i read about that too, however they say its a an eostrogen suppliment, and can afect your ovaries producing their own, hence undoing all of the hard work your ovaries hae been doing since coming off depo...............

Im personally going to just stop everything and see what the specialist brings. I have a journal in the journal section Kred if I forget to update in this section as I have been in lttc now really. Oh so frustrating and I feel the depoe has a lot to answer for if Im honest!
