Hi :)

I got my eagerly awaited Angelsounds doppler today and I can't find my baby's heartbeat!!

Do I need to get a gel - can I use ky jelly?? (I tried water but it kept drying out)
Do I need to press hard or just run it over my skin gently?
I can hear all sorts of weird gurgling sounds which I assume is my stomach, but how will I recognise my baby's heartbeat???

Any advice or tips would be much appreciated as I've been dying to hear it for ages, as I'm sure you understand!! Trying not to worry at this stage as I'm probably just not using it right, but you know what it's like....

Thanks xxx

I don't have an angel sounds one but you will deff need some gel I think they work alot better with them
I ran out of gel so use my bio oil helps my skin and can hear baby at same time
Don't fret if you can't find it straight away I didn't find heart beat till around 14 weeks properly as they have so much room in there they could hide anywhere
Good luck hope you hear it soon xx

I didn't hear mine until I saw the midwife when I was about 15 weeks...
Some ladies find it early, some don't...

I've got a proper midwifery one I bought off facebook..
I've heard you can use it with any oil/cream...
I found mine to the left of my pubic bone, quite low down... Was unsure at first whether it was baby, sounds a bit like a chugging train!

Don't panic if you can't find it, baby may just be playing hide and seek ;).

Keep having a mooch around your tummy, probably quite low around your pubic bone area, you may find it!

Thanks ladies - used baby oil which worked a treat, but still couldn't find it :( Oh well, like you say, could be too early - dissapointing tho xxx

Don't worry hun, baby likes to hide. Make sure you're starting quite low down at your pubic bone and very slowly move from one side to the other. I remember it was very faint to begin with as baby is so little but it did take my hubby a good twenty minutes to find it. I couldn''t get the right angle myself so he does it for me. xxx

I couldnt actually hear mine for a while either, but the display on my doppler was picking up a heartbeat at around 147bpm, which wasnt mine! I used to find it quite low down, to the right of my belly button.

now I hear baby it sounds like a train.

dont let it stress you, just put it away for a week and try again. x

I've got an Angelsounds doppler too, and used it from about 14 weeks.. However, it was very hit and miss whether I could pick up his heartbeat as he's got so much room to hide away! As the weeks have passed, I now find it much easier to find the heartbeat..

Use lots of gel.. I used KY jelly when I ran out of the gel and it worked perfectly fine.. Not sure if you're actually supposed to use it though!
Put a bit of pressure on your doppler at different angles and use it very low down around your pubic bone area.. (I still find my LOs heartbeat low down and I'm 25 weeks pregnant)
Try drinking a cold drink before using it.. When I had trouble finding it, I drank a cold can of coke and it seemed to do the job!
There are all sorts of noises down there, like the whooshing noise of your placenta, but once you find your LOs heartbeat, there's no mistaking it.. As the ladies said above, it will sound a bit like a train and will be able double the speed of your own..
If you still can't find it, leave it for a few days and then try again..
I'm sure it won't be long before you can hear it! :)
xx

I found it!!! :D It was much closer to my pubic bone as some of you said - thanks for the advice :) so happy :) xxxx
