Hi ladies, i hope you dont mind me posting here? My oh and i have been ttc for coming up to 4 years now with no luck :( we caught in 2012 but sadly that ended in mmc.

I am definitely ovulating as i cart my bbt. We are giving ourselves one last cycle (cd1 today) before we go to our gps to ask for help/tests.

I was wondering if anyone could advise as to what we should/can expect from these appointments?
Any information or advise would be greatly appreaciated!

Thanks in advance ladies xxx

I will tell you how our route to help went but it can vary a little from place to place. I asked for a referral, before the referral they did some day 21 bloods and SA for OH. I had already had a load of other bloods to check thyroid and diabetes etc so they just used those instead of redoing. My OH SA came back low motility so had to retake to double check. In this time, they sent off the referral. There was a little wait, maybe a month to 6 weeks from receiving letter to actual appointment. When we went we got asked lots of questions, medical history etc. My OH was told to do another SA and I was told to have a HSG and pelvic scan. That was that. I don't know what the next steps would have been after that as we fell pregnant but miscarried. They wouldn't see us again after that as we had got pregnant. I would say its best to get things moving as it can take a while for referrals to go through and can have long waiting times too x

Thanks for sharing your story very kind of you :)
Im sorry about your loss and i think its a bit harsh that they now wont see you :( i really hope you get your sticky bean soon xx
Im thinking of trying soy iso for this one last cycle as ive heard its very effective in helping ttc.
I have been putting it off as i have a feeling they wont take me seriously because of my weight :/ i had a lot of hormonal based bloods in october to check for pcos in relation to my weight so hopefully they can use those results to speed things along a little.
Xxx

That's ok :) I know it is harsh isn't it. I even had to pay to get copies of all my results as I was supposed to be getting them at the appointment!!

I am sure they will be able to use the bloods you had recently as long as they cover all the things they are looking for. I hope it all goes well for you, or even better, a bfp before then xx

You mention your weight and for us, my weight delayed any potential treatment. We had had a MMC after trying for a year then tried for another year before we went to the GP and were referred - SA for my husband and various bloods and ovary scan for me. At the consultation I was told I needed to lose 3 BMI points to bring it down to 32. When we went back to the next appointment I had lost the required weight but they then said I had to get it under 30. We were gutted and I cried all the way home - that was on the Tuesday and on the Friday we found out I was pregnant and our son is now 11 weeks old.

Because of the cost of treatment, I think they use your weight as a delaying tactic with the hope you will conceive naturally in the meantime.

Good luck xx.

Thanks purple, i understand that they dont like to "waste resources on larger people" to put it bluntly and that is fine by me, im currently doing slimming world and have lost 10lb so far...im pretty convinced to be honest, that its my weight causing us not to catch as when we concieved in 2012 i had lost 2 1/2stone. I think its more the sa were aiming for for now until ive got my weight down again.
Me and oh have separate gps will this affect our sa request at all? Xxx

Well done on losing 10lbs! I think when you put you're mind to it and are determined it's actually quite easy to lose the weight and what better incentive?!

We had different GPs but it didn't matter, it was all linked by the hospital.

It doesn't matter that you are at separate GPs, me and my OH are with different ones. The only thing was that he had to go to his GP and request the SA, it couldn't be arranged through mine x

Thats a relief, i was worried they would want us to transfer or something which would probably waste more time :/
Well im on cd5 abd giving it our ALL this cycle as i really really do want to avoid medical help if at all possible. Thanks for your help and input i really appreciate it :) xxx

Good luck this cycle hunnybum. Have you got your fertility thingy you won yet?xxx

Yes oh picked it up just in time for me to start using it :) should i use opks too or is that pointless do you think? Xxx
