Skydive For Darcie (James Cook Fundraising Neonatal Unit)

Firstly please read Amy & Ian's story:
Tragedy inspires family's fundraising drive and Through Daddy's eyes

We have never asked for/accepted donations for running our forums, and when many of you ask we have always suggested you to kindly donate to a children's charity (SANDS, NSPCC and alike) instead, but now we turn to you for support raising money for a very good cause, one close our heart.

I met Amy (who is on the Pregnancy Forum) through our sister forum (BabyandBump), where we became online buddies just like the many friendships you all make. At first we didn't talk often but I was aware of Amy and her friendly presence on our forum. When I heard Amy was in early labour I contacted her best friend Zara and kept up to date, sadly Evie grew her wings at 21 weeks. I became good friends with both girls thanks to BabyandBump and friendships grew. Then the news came that Amy was expecting again they were of course over the moon... Darcie was born at 24.6 weeks due to infection. She put up a fight for 3 and a half days, but sadly the infection was too big for her and 30th May Darcie grew her wings and went to play with her angel sister.

So why are we doing this?
I was there within hours of Darcie being born. When I got there I felt so privileged to meet such a small yet strong fighter, she gave it everything I know she did, she touched my heart immediately. I remember sitting in a basic room with Amy talking to the consultant whist Ian had nipped home for fresh clothes. I had to look at the ceiling I wanted to burst out crying, this little girl had so much to fight. There were ups and downs in the time I spent there but I had to come home after 2 nights to my family and left with so much hope (I hoped so hard all would be ok). The news Amy and Ian had to let Darcie go on the evening of the 30th broke my heart. She will always be in my memory, so precious.

The comfort of the waiting room used for various reasons by parents and visitors is very important, it may seem so little to most but it's everything to those who need to use it, Amy and Ian have pledged to raise this money on behalf of the neonatal ward.

I felt compelled to do more than just sponsor other events to help them reach their target but what?? Then the CrAzY suggestion from stircrazy came up "skydive" I have a great fear of heights (acrophobia) BUT here we are preparing to jump 10,000ft from the ground out of a plane for James Cook Neonatal Unit.

Help us help them get closer to their target
