I'm sorry but no way should your son's teacher be implying this. If he has additional support needs, and the school are aware of this, your child should be getting supported appropriately. This could mean getting an Individual Education Plan, the support of a classroom assistant, or a Learning Support teacher on regular occasions. If this is not the case, make an appointment to speak to the headteacher.

You or your son should not be blamed for his behaviour, he deserves a quality education just like every other child xx

Hey, thanks for replying

I had a meeting with the head teacher and he assured me that Adam is safe in school and was going to talk to his teacher for implying he want.

He has also involved the school senco and together we have set up an IBP for him. They are also going to apply to the council for a LSA.

Fingers crossed!

Glad to hear things are getting sorted. I hope that teacher will be disciplined for saying such things. Honestly, the cheek!

I'm a teacher btw, things work a bit differently here in Scotland but I'm assuming the IBP is the same as the IEP and the SENCO will do roughly the same as the LS teacher xx

Hey just seen this thread about your son, my little brother who is now 11, but was diagnosed at about 6-7 with adhd and Tourette's had a similar problem with his school he was at main stream school and the teachers just basically said he was naughty and couldn't cope with him, they eventually got him 1-1 support but still didn't integrate him in class instead they sat him in the library all day and just let him go on the computer for peace, one point the school had a official inspection and the head teacher bundled him off screaming as he was refusing to go in a taxi to some day thing to get him out of the way absolutely disgusting, his learning was terrible Cudnt write or concentrate, after the incident myself and my mum as shes on her own went into the school and complained and went mad they school tryed to disregard it, anyways after my mum pushing and pushing and getting on there cases all the time my brother was moved to another mainstream school but this school had a unit with specialised in things like this, he still goes into normal class but has this unit where he goes at times where its smaller groups, and he always has 1-1 support, my mum and school had to push for the 1-1 funding tho, anyways tail of the story his learning has improved massively he can sit and do writing alone now n concentrate longer, his still has outbursts of behaviour but they school handle it much better and dont constantly say he's naughty, it was the best move for him, next year he will be going to another school where its for kids with learning disabilities etc and the classrooms are a class of about 5 people which will be great for him, i now how you must feel its hard work and schools don't understand xx

Sorry Layla, no experiance of this , but well done for your meeting, sounds very productive, fingers crossed you get the learning support Assistant soon and your son will reep the benefits

Every child has the right to learn and be pushed to get the best of them...
