Acupuncture

That's me booked in for accupunture just before my fertile period in February...worth a shot girls!

Hi MoominGirl,

Just to throw another opinion into the mix haha...I really rate it! I started having it about 7 months before my last pregnancy (which unforuntately ended in MC at 16wks) and stopped having it about about 8 weeks pregnant. The aim at first was the same as you and it did improve my cycles, got rid of my clotting and pain entirely. BUT, its not just the acupuncture that does this, its the supplements they recommend and the lifestyle changes too. Is your acupuncturist fertility specialized? I know that sounds daft but is she giving you all sorts of additional info or is it just the acupuncture because she may just be giving you the relaxation treatment rather than drilling down into the specifics of fertility? For example my acupuncturist gives me different treatments depending on where I am in the cycle - implantation treatment around day 21, pre-ovulation relaxation and progesterone treatment before ovulation etc).

Having been a total sceptic about holistic therapy I now rely on it entirely, and although it's changed my life in terms of the diet I have to be on, supplements, COST etc, I really think it's worth it and will feel much more positive about a future pregnancy. (The reason for this is that I had been tested as 'unexplained' and it was taking well over a year for me to get pregnant each time I have been and then I've MC for different reasons-with what I'm doing holistically now, I think my body will be much better placed for a healthy, natural conception - watch this space I suppose as to whether I'm right or not!) I hope that helps and hasn't just confused you more! xx

Thanks for your reply. I have cancelled treatment with the previous acupuncturist. She apparently specialised in fertility but to be honest I wasn't really getting any additional advice, just the acupuncture. I wouldn't have said she seemed too concerned about where I was in my cycle either and as I said previously, I've had not cycle changes whatsoever. I think I've found someone new who is actually closer to where I live although a bit more expensive. Hopefully it will balance out though.
