HEllo Mummies !!
I am 7 weeks pregnant today and it's my first baby !
It's already been a bit of an adventure as I fainted at work 2 weeks ago, ending in an abulance being sent straight to A&E !
All is fine, doctors blamed it on hormones and heat...

I've been feeling rubbish since though... Have returned to work the following week for two days but felt so atrocious called of sick again on wednesday.
I feel so nauseous and ill - weak - faint - constantly... I went to see my GP again this afternoon, explained symptoms but he sais it's only all due to heartburn and I should get myself some gaviscon from the chemist...
He also said i can self certificate for 7 days so it's fine... My seventh day is tomorrow and I am expected to be back at work the day after.

IT's still constantly about 30 degrees daily in here and where I work don't have proper air conditioning, etc. IT's ROASTING and it makes me feel even worse.
I have noticed in the risk assessment carried out by my manager 2 weeks ago that they should provide ventilation in order to reduce the heat and humidity levels... But it doesnt work. We have fans all over the place and it's still aroud 27-28 degrees indoors !
The doctor knows about this and just told me to talk about it with my manager. On the other hand my manager keeps telling me to take the time I need to feel better.. But I cant without a sick note from my GP !

I am absolutely desperate, i don't know who's responsability it is to ensure my safety at work but I know one thing for sure, I can't cope at work at the moment. I bursted into tears on the way back from the GP. I feel like i don't get any support anywhere and all this lovely baby hormones make me so senstive ! I feel so stresses constantly just about thinking about talkint to the doctor or my manager.

Any advice welcome... what would you do ? Contact the GP again? and hope for a different one? Contact occupation health ? I am so lost :eh:

Have you got a MW yet? If so, call her and get her on the case with the gp. Failing that, ask to see a different GP if poss. Maybe take someone with you for a bit of support/help with getting your fit note?

Yeah, definitely see another GP! Or go back and demand a sick note. Say "I need a sick note, I cannot do my job. Manager is fine with it" - he'll probably come around if you assert yourself. I was horrendously sick that early on too, so I know how you feel. My work didn't even ask me for a sick note, just took my word for it...

I feel like abusing the system ending up in GP once or twice a week :O
I thought I'd be hones with him saying I don't puke but everything else isn't right !
And his akswer was it's different and that's because of pregnancy but it's not because it's different that it's a bad thing... I could have killed him... and being on hormonal emotional rollercoaster wasn't helping

Candymycandy, meeting with the MW on Friday.. feels like I've been waiting forever... Hopefully she'll be more understanding... I have to say my faith in heathcare profesionnals at the moment is very low :(
I keep thinking i should have lied to the doc and said I was vomitting all the time...
I lost 2kg over the last 2 weeks surely that's not ideal...

Thanks for your support I'll let you know the outcome although it sounds like I'll go to work in roasting 30°C tomorrow.... again...

Anna@work this is not acceptable. I would be on the phone to the gp right away and tell them you need a sick note. You should not be working when feeling like this and the fact you have already fainted and been taken to hospital as a result of the heat/hormones means you need to be home resting. If it was me I would phone the gp and speak to the receptionist. Tell them you need to speak to a doctor today and get a sick note. Ask for a call back if they do that. My gp does that and then you don't actually have to go down you can just speak to them on the phone and then they leave your sick note at reception to be collected. Ask if they can arrange that?
Please don't force yourself to go to work when you feel this way.
Sending hugs. I know how you feel Im also going through it xxx

Lynsey252831, I did phone them this morning, told the receptionist i just wasn't right.
I have a phone appointment tomorrow morning with.... the same GP that I saw on Monday...
I called occupational Health at work for advice and luckily the advisor there was lovely and very understanding... gives a change doesnt it...
She told me if the outcome with GP tomorrow isn't good i have to tell him off on the phone and convince him that my symptoms arent caused by heat but by pregnancy and that it's unsafe for me to work knowing that i am holding on to furtinure to keep myself up multiple times a day...
And if that doesnt work call again and ask for a different GP...

I'll send an update tomorrow and let you all know about it !

We must want these babies badly when you see how rubbish they make us feel sometimes ! Tiny tiny babies, sicky sicky mummies !
