6weeks pregnant & brown spotting ... Worried :-(

Hi everyone.... My partner and I have been ttc for 18 months and we're delighted when we found out we were pg on 22.11.15 according to dates we were exactly 5 weeks. However worry is over shadowing our excitement as I have been spotting brown every day. I went to a&e on 25.11.15 and they did some tests a ruled out eptopic and I have been booked in for a scan at the epu on Monday. We are terrified as this is our first pregnancy. Has anyone else experienced this and what was your outcome?

Hi SesameSeed, I'm really sorry for your worry but I honestly think that everything is fine and it is probably just a bit of implantation spotting, please try not to worry. How did they rule out an ectopic? I experienced spotting for about a week each month before my af until my consultant put me on progesterone, which stopped it. He said that it wouldn't prevent us conceiving and wouldn't cause a problem if we did but I just found it annoying! I'm sure the EPU will give you a thorough check over and put you on progesterone to stop the spotting, if that's what is causing it. Loads of women spot or even bleed throughout a lot of their pregnancy, so with no severe cramping or heavy bleeding I'm sure there is nothing at all for you to worry about. If it is really worrying you I'd contact the EPU in the morning and see if they can see you tomorrow. Now that they have you on record I'm sure they will squeeze you in if you say you are anxious, mine did xx

Thank you unicorn that's very reassuring. They did and examination in my tummy and said that eptopic would be extremely painful and tummy tender to touch but I'm not in any pain. Just want to feel excited as we have wanted this for so long

I have had brown spotting from 5 weeks everyday and I am now almost 14 weeks!!! I have had numerous scans and all been fine! It can be totally normal Hun x good u have scan I am sure all will be fine but it's so scary good luck xx

It is so scary when this happens. I had brown spotting and bleeding up to 20 weeks. I started spotting at about 6 weeks and then had a big bleed at 12 and had brown spotting til 20.
It was horrible all the time it was brown all the professionals were not worried. Brown is a sign of old blood so could be implantation bleeding or old period. They never got to the bottom of why I had it for so long but did think I had a clot where the placenta was forming and it was that just breaking away bit by bit.
They all said the same thing tho; unless it is red, fresh and painful then 'it's just one of those things'.
Try not to google things!!

Thank you elleyoung! I'm still having morning sickness so staying positive. Scan tomorrow and I have everything crossed that everything is as it should be. Bodies are unbelievable things! Xx

Hi everyone so I've had the scan and also had and internal as well. I have a heart shaped womb which could be causing the bleeding but also I two sacks. The me suggested that the bleeding could also be caused by a failing twin and I have been booked in for another scan in 10 days. Just trying to get my head around all the information xx

Wow that's a lot to take in! I'm glad it's not all bad news but obviously it will be sad if you've lost a twin. I guess you'll know more after the next scan. Big hugs xxx

that is a lot to take in hope you're ok hun.
I hope it is just your womb that is causing the bleeding, it's shame they can't re-scan sooner though just so you know what's happening because it's hard to think of much else. It may not be one of the twins failing though, they probably told you that to prepare you but there's no way to tell atm. Good news that they could see the sacs though xxx
