Hi

I go back to work in feb, isaac will be 6 month old! Im a nurse so I work shifts, some weeks i will work long days and have a lot of time off with him and some I work shorter days and won't see him often :(

Ive already found him an amazing childminder who was recommended to us by a friend, she is ofsted registered with outstanding rating and he goes to her now once a week for half a day so he can get used to her surroundings and so she can get used to him, as of next month he will go twice a week for half day each time to ease him in that bit more before I go back full time. He absolutely loves it there and the childminder adores him, as do the other children she looks after, the problem is with me!!!

I'm so nervous about leaving him full time, as I explained some weeks I work 3 long days so I will have him 4 days out of that week but the other 3 I won't see him at all (or he won't see me) other weeks I work 4 shorter days so will have him 3 days but maybe only see him for an hour on a night or morning! I'm dreading it.

Just wondered if anyone had any of you have been in a similar situation?? Id like to hear your experiences??

Thanks xxx

No advice I'm afraid but just to tell you I am absolutely dreading returning to work too, I feel like I am going to miss out on so much :(

Hey there

I dont work shifts so I cant comment on that Im afraid I know I struggled leaving Elise when I went back after 9 months she was fine but I found that when I had a week or two holiday that she was quite clingy when I went back for a day or two now she pushes me out the door to go to work

My husband however works shifts where he is either out from 6am till 6pm or vice versa its not so bad when he is 6am start but when he does a full weekend nightshoft he will see elise for a few minutes on the friday morning before i drop her off at my mums then he is away to work before im home with her so think he feels that he misses out by doing that xx
