Hi guys had a 4D scan done on sat the sonographer said everything looke fine but I havent had my 20 wk scan yet & Im worried the babys head doesnt look right, Ive put it on my avatar so you can see for yourself....there seems to be a crease down the front, i know 4D scans can look strange anyway could it just be a shadow?
Thanks guys x

Hi hun is there any chance you could put a bigger picture on?How does it look on your 4d pictures?xxx

Hi I have put the 4D pic on my avatar, I havent got a clue how to do a bigger pic?x

10 views & no replies? Please someone?x

ive seen worse pics than that so im sure your babys fine! dont stress about it!

dont all heads have like a little crease there, if you look at a skull there is a big massive line down the middle. I wouldn't worry too much they would have said at the scan surely, my 20 week scan pictures are awful, my baby looks like an ape with a huge mouth, i put my picture up here bt most people seemed ot think it had a limb in the way

Im sure if it was anything serious the sonographer would have mentioned it.
Looking at your avatar it could be where the bones in the skull haven't joined yet, babies are born with a 'gap' in the skull bones and as they grow the skull merges but I'm no expert.
It could also just be a shadow, as when they convert from 2d to the 3d images you can get some shadings in the pictures. I had my 4d scan much later than you so can't really compare images.
Have you got a date for your 20 week scan?

the skull isnt fused together yet and wont till long after the baby is born this allows the baby to move down the birth canal

I don't think it's anything to worry about. As the ladies above have said it could be where the skull hasn't fused together or a shadow. The sonographer would have mentioned if there was anything wrong x

19 weeks is really early to have a 4d scan too so this is prob why it looks different as most are done around 27 weeks

It was a private scan that wasnt diagnostic tho? Im not sure how skull bones etc work? Its another week until my 20 wk scan :s x

\thanks midnight, cant see the second one...the gap just looks so huge on our bubs :s x

a tiny gap will look alot bigger on the scan because of shadows if the sonographer would of thought anything was wrong she would of said the more the baby grows the smaller the gaps the skull plates need to be able to cross over each other to be able tp pass down the birth canal thats why some babies can be born with a ridge on the head but they soon go back to normal you will be able to feel the lines when your baby is born xx

It's completely normal. This is why everyone says to be careful with babies head when they're first born. At 19 weeks the bones are still fusing together & when baby is born the bones take time to fuse. This is why you can see the head pulsing due to the gap when they're tiny babies. The skull doesn't fuse as it allows movement for the head to come down the birth canal & make the birth easier. Don't worry hun if there was anything wrong I am sure it would have been mentioned during the scan :)

Ideally 4d scans shouldn't b done til 24+ weeks so urs has been done pretty early and therfore babys skull hasn't had chance to fully form x

I've never had a 4D scan and never wanted one really - because I don't like the pictures people get back. I prefer the regular scan pics :)

I've seen worse too, your baby should be fine. They are creased and incomplete at this stage - think of baby as an ice cream sundae. One that is being made over 9 months. There's how many scoops of icecream, bits of fruit, nuts, sauce, cream, sprinkles, cherry on top etc - each bit gradually makes the sundae look more like a sundae. Stop too early and it just doesn't look right!

Damn I hate being dairy intolerant. That Thorntons icecream was begging for me to eat it at the weekend...
