Hi all,

Had MW appointment this morning and all is well with my little one; MW said he/she has a beautiful heartbeat and they're a very happy baby (how she can tell, I don't know!)

She's put on my notes that they're still head down and 4/5 "in relation to brim" - I think those funny pains I was feeling must have been the head after all...

Is this pretty normal at this stage?

xx

yeah i was at brim etc at that stage. all good signs baby is moving in right direction. xx

It is good news hun it means the baby has started to go down always good to hear.

When they say in relation to the brim they mean how much they can feel outside the pelvis so you are 1/5 engaged.
I was 2/5 palp in relation to the brim when i was 32 weeks which when i asked the midwife to explain she said it means i was 3/5 engeged as she could feel 2/5 outside the pelvis if that makes sense

she said it was normal and the baby was just getting ready and i may find it more painful to walk now lol. Great

Thanks ladies :-)

It's weird as it must literally have started to engage on Thurs/Fri last week, I remember getting these funny twinges and I was walking on tips toes as the pain was quite nippy and then since then, I've felt like I need to pee ALL the time which is baby's head really low according to MW.

I've read though that as they're still quite teeny they can wriggle out but hopefully they will stay put and gradually keep wriggling down :-) x

Glad all is well with LO, and he/she is heading in the right direction.. :) i have got my 32wks appointment tomorrow! i love going to them! xx

I do too! And only have to wait 3 weeks until my next one now instead of 4, hehe! x

yes im understanding the need to pee its constant and then i have the pain of walking up stairs. :wall2:

Midwife said she could come out again but didnt think she would and i dont think she has yet so hopefully she just keeps going down slowly

I know it's intense isn't it? I was convinced I was going to have a urine infection; the feeling of pressure on my bladder is unreal... still, I would rather LO be heading in the right direction instead of a urine infection, didn't fancy a course of anti-biotics! x

ive been going to MW every 2 weeks since 26wks... i did think that im sure i didnt go this often with brooke, didnt bother mentioning to her as i wanted to keep going every 2 weeks hehe, but maybe it because ive stopped seeing the consultant so i just get extra midwife appointments!

i want my little man to start to engage!!! NOT FAIR..lol :)

Im sure it will happen for you soon. I thought i was getting another uti or a kidney infection as my lower back was hurting and the need to pee and the pain in that area but all was clear.

Lol, dont think i would be able to tell if he had started to engage as i have constant pains/pressure all round that area! on my notes it always says Ceph - Free.. so to me that means head down but still free to move! o well will see tomorrow, but im not betting on it.. sometimes babys head dont engage till labour!

Mine was only 4/5 engaged at my 38 week appointment, which i thought was bad but its good apperently but then I've been told so many things about what 4/5ths mean I'm totally confused. got an appointment on wednesday so I'm just going to ask her then.

I've just had my 36 week appoint and they have said I'm 3-4/5s engaged! I reckon our baby's r just getting comfy for birth :)

i've just had to check my notes to see if there is anything on there, but all it says at 32 week appointment is ceph lca . . . what ever lca stands for i have no idea! but then she is a bit of a useless mw!

Yep I had horrible stabbing pains last week etc n baby was fixed at brim which means 4/5th now in a week I'm 2/5th which means babys moving down n I feel alot better x

OMG Ive been feeling sick all day and mainly its cos of weird feeling in my pelvis. Its been moving all day long with no let up. I asked mw 2 weeks ago and she said it was babys head down there. Its like my bladder and bowel being prodded - hard to explain really. My next appointment is next week at 31 weeks, then 34 weeks and every 2 weeks till "D" day...

I can feel so much pressure down there now, when I walk it's almost tingling, does that make sense?

I hope it doesn't shoot down too fast, I've still got 8 weeks! x
