Hi everyone, I've had a miscarriage at 6 weeks confirmed today. I have opted for a d&c because they said they could send the tissue off for testing. But now I am panicking and feel like I didn't ask enough questions. Are you at risk of more scar tissue etc second time round? How long till we can ttc again? Is it riskier in general second time round (also there is only a tiny amount of tissue left!) anyone got any experience with having two D&C's (only a few months apart!) tia xxx

Hi Qwerty,

Unfortunately I don't know the answers to your questions, but I wanted to say I am so sorry for your loss! <3

Personally I've let all mine come out naturally, with such a small fetus they will not be able to test. I've had 6, last one was twins at 8 weeks told me they've all been far too small to even try and do testing. Idk why they would tell you this :S At my recurrent miscarriges appointment they said really can only test the fetus from about 9-10 weeks.
I've herd it's less painful in the long run to have a d&c, as with a natural one your uterus contracts pushing the fetus out. Also less bloody, but natural is safer imo.
I can't answer your question about the d&c cos I've never had one. Im sure someone on here will be able to.
I'm sorry your going through this again :( xx

So sorry for your loss qwerty. I have no experience of d&cs but I know someone who's had 2 and the most recent the foetus tissue was sent to be tested - she was 8 weeks. Maybe the criteria varies in different areas PB? She's not mentioned the op to have any adverse effects to me. Maybe give the epu/gp a call to discuss? I think you have to leave it at least a couple of cycles to ttc to give your body a chance to heal after a d&c and for the womb lining to recover. Given the choice again I'd have opted for the op as passing my last MC was long and tremendously painful. Take care of yourself xx

I have had two and was never told there was more risk by having two. There are risks for it as you know but there are also risks with natural as if takes too long can get infection etc.
I was never told that it was ever too early for testing so probably depends on the hospital. With one of mine, there was only a sac and they were still willing to test that.
If you have more questions then I am sure you could give them a call?
So sorry you're going through this xx

Morning qwerty, sorry to hear you've had another mmc. Haven to had any experience of this but just wanted to check you're ok. Hopefully your GP or clinic can provide any more help you need, but it sounds like a few of the ladies here have had similar experiences. X
