i can't beleive how hot it is in his bedroom!!! 26 degrees!!! what is it going to be like in real summer? any tips to keep it cool apart from fan and air cond( last one i can't afford :( )

As you can imagine, it gets very hot here in SA.
The thing that most people do is, to open curtains and windows, first thing in the morning. Around mid morning (10.30 - 11am), everything is shut again so that the cool air is retained. Make sure the curtains are closed too. You'll find this will work a treat - I grew up with this and I still do it. It could be near 40 degrees outside, but inside it feels cool and still.... very relaxing!!

Enjoy the summer - wish I was there!!

I have a fan. It was only about 12 quid last year definitley worth it.

I think I'm gonna be purchasing a fan for my room (Damien is still in my room) as it starts cooking. Cheers for the advice Emilia :D

I've just be complaing about this to my hubby. We have one of those Grobag temperature Egg things & its glowing red & is reading nearly 25. It gets me all worried so we'll be getting the fan out of the loft tomorrow, we may invest in an air conditioning unit too.

What's the best thing for them to wear at night with the temps as they are? J's got a vest & a thin sleep suit on at the mo. without a blanket over him, should I leave him in his vest & put a blanket over him or as he is, getting myself worked up here :?

I leave Damien in a vest and lay a sheet over him, but he normally kicks it off.

You can get grobags for when its 26 - Ella's room is the same. She's in a vest and a half tog grobag.

Its 29 in ours, Seren is flat out in her crib dressed in only a vest, no covers. She keeps waking up all hot and bothered, and we have the fan going.

Just checked his monitor and it's 27 in our room and he keeps waking up crying and restless, so hot and bothered :? Wonder if 24hr Tesco sell fans??

We are having same problem. Although I do recommend the black-out blinds - its kept our room loads cooler than normal.

Although it is still 25 in there now - lord knows what it would be like without them.

heidi is in short-sleeve vest and 1 tog grobag.
