2Hello,

I'm just a few days over 20 weeks and I'm getting really worried about my baby. I know I'm probably being paranoid but I'm so scared that something bad is going to happen. Two weeks ago I was getting a lot of stomach pains so I went to the doctor who told me this was normal and I wasn't to worry.

Last night I had a dream about losing the baby... I know the dream is probably because I'm worrying and it's on my mind but I woke up at 7:00am this morning (v. early for me) with some stomach pains and couldn't get back to sleep. I'm convincing myself it's nothing and that I'm being overly worried but does anyone else feel like this??

I think I'll feel much better once the baby is kicking. Last night was the first time I felt him kick with my hand on my tummy. Before I've only really felt a bit of movement when I've laid on my stomach and even then I'm not sure. Even in my ticker it says that he should be waking me up at night.

Can anyone let me know if they feel like this as well or if they are this far gone and haven't felt much movement yet?

Thank you,

Berry

It is normal to worry - but try not to let it get you down, try and enjoy this special time and think about all the posititve stuff.

Dont worry about what your ticker says - my first baby never woke me, nor did I feel him daily until after 23 weeks

Hun please dont worry :)
Im sure everythings fine.
Some people dont feel there baby kick even up to 23 weeks i think.
Its a good sign he/she is kicking.
I no Iv had days where the slightest cramp and im worried soemthing happening to him though. I think we all go through it.
Just take it easy, dont do anything too strenuous(sp?) and Im sure bubs will be fine :)

Please don't worry.. I'm sure you just have a lazy baby in there. Try walking about a bit.. tha usually gets baby int a good position for kicking etc. Or having a full bladder.. you can feel baby closer to the surface of your abdomen. Don't be afriad to press down a little on your belly or have a little feel about for something.. as long as you keep it gentle.. if it'll ease your mind.

My first baby hardly ever moved! He was such a lazy baby.. but now I'm having a girl, she wont stop wriggling and kicking. As long as you have felt some movement.. if it's not frequent it just means baby isn't much of a mover. If you continue to have worries then speak to your MW about it.. she might set up more frequent visits with her so she can get the doppler on you and hear your baby's heartbeat to reassure you that nothing is wrong.

The more worried you get, the more it will affect baby, so please try not to panic. Take it easy. Lots of hugs for you xxx

What the others have said :)

Also don't forget at 20 weeks baby still has loads of room to move around and kick so you won't feel everything, maybe not much at all, especially if baby is kicking into your placenta. My LO would do that a lot even when bigger and I'd not feel as many kicks as others would. However, he did wriggle and turn around a lot so I had that to contend with right up to the day he was born.

It may be a few more weeks before you really feel anything of note.

As for the worrying, it is totally normal and something I think pretty much all of us go through.

Hi,

Thanks for the response's it has made me feel better knowing that not everyone's babies are kicking straight away! :)

It's like I said before I think I am being to paranoid and going into panic mode but I just want everything to go smoothly.

I'm thinking of buying a doppler to use at home.. has anyone else had one of these or got any advice on whether to buy one or not?

Thanks,

Berry x x

Some people on here have one.
Personally I wouldnt as I think id get addicted too it, and probobly get my self more paranoid.
If the baby moved and I lost the heartbeat id be panaking again or if I couldnt find his heartbeat straight away id think there was soemthing wrong.

please dont worry darling, if u got pains about 2 weeks ago they would have been strechting (sp) pains i got them, and as for worrying hun, we all do its totally normal honestly, i worry everyday about my new born esp after recent events on this forum, but even when u have ur baby u will still worry about ur child thats life hun

As i type im getting pains hun and i know they are growing pains as they are jsut like the cramps i got in the begining, they are a bit freqnet this week but as everyone says, everyone is different as to when they start to feel the baby, and like someone else said, if the placenta is in the way then yo uwont feel anything Dont worry sweet. xx

I have a doppler and can feel the kicks but am still constantly panicing that something is wrong :wall:

I only had a scan last week and im panicking that somethings wrong. Try not to worry. Id recomend a doppler, mine arrived today and was very reasuring but you have to be carefull you dont get too obsest with it.

aww hun

i had some awful dreams about losing baby :? im now nearly 29 weeks, and i hardly feel any movement some days, but mid wife has confirmed everything is just fine (babys just lazy), so please try not to worry about that

I am nearly 26 wks and although when baby is kicking i can feel it easily, it still doesnt keep me awake, or wake me up at night.

There has been many a morning when i will wake up and think that i slept all night without feeling anything and i will lie there in bed, needing to feel a little kick to reassure me that all is well.

It is perfectly normal and like chezzabell said, i think with recent events on here, we are all a little more anxious from time to time.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for what you've all said it did reassure me and make me feel better knowing I'm not the only one who worrys. I'm going to buy a doppler tomorrow... it may scare me more if I can't hear anything but I feel like I need to do something and if I do hear the heartbeat I know I'll feel fine.

Thanks,

Berry x
