Hi ladies,

Not sure whether this is going to make sense but me and my hubby have been trying to conceive now for 2 years, but to no avail. I was recently prescribed Microgynon to start off my period as I am irregular, I happened to start bleeding and from days 2-6, I took clomid (50mg) as instructed by my consultant. I've just come back from cycle day 12 ultrasound, which hasn't been a great experience in my book. I was told that at this present time, my follicles are small, and my lining is 5mm which they say isn't sufficient... I feel really down at this point, even to the point that when I got into my car, my mind was elsewhere and I nearly hit the kerb and wrote off my car.. (I can laugh now but wasn't funny at the time) - I am scheduled in for another ultrasound on next Tuesday which will be cycle say 18 for me... The consultant said that the follicles may grow but if they don't, then this cycle will be scrapped and the clomid dosage will be increased. I have to go through this for at least 6 cycles and can't envision how other women may feel having been through this as I can honestly say this is exhausting.

Can anyone shed any light on their experiences of taking clomid? Xx

Hiya, I've done 7 rounds of clomid. I also had only tiny follicles at my first scan (and pretty much no lining), they did grow by the next scan and I went on to ovulate. I ovulated between CD18 and CD24 (I think, I can't quite remember) on all my clomid cycles, which is quite late but my clinic were happy with it. I wasn't scanned every cycle, only the first to check the dose was correct. I then used opks and temping to confirm ovulation. Cycle 7 worked for us and my baby is now 16 weeks old, well worth all the messing about!

I did 6 cycles at 100mg and one at 125mg, I also did a mixture of days 2-6 and 3-7 and found 3-7 seemed to work better for me.

Good luck :)

I just want to say don't give up hope!

My OH and I have been trying for almost 4 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS, I did 6 rounds of clomid, none of which worked. I tried everything I could think of to help myself, from weight loss, to acupuncture, to buying a fertility bracelet! Nothing worked and I was told that the only way I would conceive is through IVF.

I was waiting for AF to come and then I was going back on the pill so that the doctor could control when to start IVF, but AF never came, I tested and got my BFP! It's still early days for me, but I'm thrilled about the little miracle inside me.

Anyway my point is that I had almost completely given up on the idea of conceiving naturally, but it happened for me so it can for you!

I wish I could tell you something that I did to make it happen, but truthfully I think it takes time, patience and the ability to relax!

I also had six rounds of clomid and unfortunately didn't ovulate on 5 of them. It is hard to keep getting your hopes up but it will be worth it in the end. We are trying IVF now.

Wow thank you to all the ladies that replied on this post. It's so uplifting hearing stories regarding your personal experiences, I guess I will continue taking clomid until the consultant says otherwise.. The problem is, I'm not very good at the 'waiting game' - I guess most women would agree with that though lol.

Will keep you all updated with next week's appointment and baby dust to all the women out there TTC.

Xx

The waiting is the worst part. Feels like everything is in limbo and you can't plan for anything! I feel your pain on that front.

Baby dust to you :)

I had 3/4 rounds of clomid. My first round my progesterone was 13. Every one after that It didn't budge from <1 so I didn't ovulate on any. Now waiting to start letrozole when AF arrives and then if that doesn't work it will be IVF eventually.

Hi ladies, for those of you that didn't have success with clomid, were you offered letrozole? I didn't ovulate with clomid alone or with it and metformin.

I was referred for iui but never needed it as I was given letrozole and fell pregnant on my fourth cycle. They put me straight on it again when I wanted a second baby and I fell pregnant on my first cycle.

Don't give up hope and don't be afraid to ask for different treatment xx

Hi you beautiful ladies, I just wanted to fill you in as I had promised...

I had my 2nd ultrasound at cycle day 20 - My follicles didn't grow at all... *sad face* - so they've told me to wait till the 9th of September then start by taking Microgynon again + 100mg of CLOMID.

I am honestly at my lowest at the moment, @BoJangles, you're right, the worst part is definitely the waiting, and I'm so impatient as we've been TTC for 2 years. If the 2nd round doesn't work, they will increase the dose of clomid to 150mg, and then move me onto letrozole if that doesn't work... counselling is on offer but I'm not really much of a talker, and tend to bottle my feelings up (not good, I know) lol.

Anyway just wanted to express my gratitude to everyone replying on this post as there are so many ladies in this position and it's always good to hear other women sharing their clomid success stories.

Baby dust to you all. Xx

I'm just starting it now. I think letrozole is the same as ferments? If so it's massively used in the US. I have everything crossed for me but know with my luck it will do nothing...as the nurse said I need a lot of rocket fuel to get me working

I typed it and my phone changed it. It's a good job you knew what I was going on about

Cycle 7 worked for us and my baby is now 16 weeks old, well worth all the messing about!
