1st Midwife Appointment

Hi,

I had my first midwife appointment so just thought I would post a quick note just to say how it went.

The midwife I seen asked mainly health related questions to do with me, my fiance and our families. She gave me a file to keep that has all this info in so if I go away I can take it with me and if there are any problems I can see any doctor or midwife as all the info will be in there. I thought this was handy to have especially if you go away

She then gave me lots and lots of booklets with lots of info through the stages of pregnancy, what to eat and what not to eat, exercise etc.

She told me that the 12 week scan appointment is going to be sent through the post so I am going to be waiting on the post. I can't wait to get the scan it will be amazing to see. I am really looking forward to getting to 12 weeks as it seems to be dragging so much lol. I am almost 10 weeks pregnant but it seems like I have been pregnant for months and months lol.

She lastly took my blood pressure and I have to go to the doctors to arrange for blood to be taken which will test for millions of things such as Anaemia, HIV, Hepatitis B and one for Downs Syndrome... the list went on lol.

It was great to have the midwife come round as its made my pregnancy feel all the more real lol. Sorry for the long message

Glad your midwife appointment went well, I got mine in 2 weeks and I can't wait. Although mine is at the doctors surgery.

I wonder if we give birth in the same hospital, I went to the Hartlepool hospital not long ago as docs thought I may have an ectopic pregnancy. I am almost 10 wks pregnant now!!! I have got my scan date in about 2 weeks time which will be cool.

Is this going to be your first? It is for me lol

No I already have a little boy who is 4.

I think the facilities in Hartlepool hospital are being reduced so I could possibly end up in Stockton!

was for about 6-8 weeks well had ti for first time preg but not second time rounnd

Hi

After reading your messages i am really disappointed, I saw my midwife 2 weeks ago, and i was not pleased with her, i recieved a booklet which i had to fill out with personal details and that was it. I asked for some information on healthy eating as i am extremley overweight, and i am obvously concerned about my own and the babys health. She said she didnt have anything and will see me again some time.

That was it, i have had my scan now and still waiting to hear from her, i havent been weighed, had bloods taken etc..

I called the centre on Monday and left a message for someone to ring me back, havent heard anything yet,

I feel so disappointed with it all.

hi i am now 12 weeks, i know its only early but you kinda wanna make sure your doing the right things etc

I am overweight at the moment and have been for a while, but nothing was mentioned when I said how much I weighed. I thought it was strange that I have to go to the doctors to get my blood taken as I thought that would have been done in the same session.

I am not looking forward to getting blood took as I have sickness all day long and think if I go and get blood took too I am going to be a mess lol

First scan shortly though, can't wait.
