Hi all,

Just curious really as my lg pattern has changed dramatically In the past month.

She used to go for snap at13:00 but if on a family day out would nap at 15:00, as she won't sleep anywhere but her cot.

Now she's is shattered by 10:30 am and needs a nap latest 11. She sleeps for 2 hours, gets up ok, still tired and is shattered by 6 but goes to bed at 7:30 as refuses any earlier.

She's sleeps ok, wakes about 4 - 8 times a night and cries for 1-2 minutes and goes back to sleep.

She used to get up 7:30 every morning but now wakes between 6-7.

Is it normal for them to become more tired and grumpy at this age?
She's also so clingy now I can't move without her hanging onto me
X x
Soneone suggested separation anxiety but she's always slept poor at night, her waking only 4-8 times for 1 minute is good for us! And it doesn't explain her constant tiredness x x

We also can't do family days, she's too tired, we went zoo the other day and had to return after 40 minutes because she was so tired. They even refunded the tickets! X x x

My little boy is also 17 months. If we are at home all day he will habe a nap about half 9 ish. Then another in afternoon around 1-2. Then goes to bed about half 7. He will sleep through till about 7 then. If we go out he usually drops the morning nap and has one in the afternoon for about a hour. Same as at nursery he only has 1 afternoon nap! But every child is different. She will be alot more mobile now and learning new things so probs shattered lol. If your concerned speak to HV :) xx

my lo is almost 16 months so not far off - but she goes to bed at 6pm, wakes around 4am has 8oz milk and goes back to sleep until about 6.30am (suits me as I am up at 6 anyway)......can get her to go later by putting her to bed later at the weekend etc. she has a 1-2 hour nap around lunchtime.

My son is 19 months and has had the same pattern of sleep/naps for a while now. He'll nap from around 11/11.30am til 1pm and go to bed at 6.30pm and sleep through til 6/6.30am. He's had just the one nap for ages now, but my daughter used to need two of them until she was 2 years old - the first was around 10am for an hour or so and the second was after lunch for a couple of hours.

It is normal for them to become more clingy. I can't go anywhere in my house at the moment without my son screaming "mummeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" at the top of his voice like I'm never going to come back! It does sound as if your LO could do with more sleep though. Waking 4-8 times a night seems like a lot to me, so perhaps you need to try introducing a second daytime nap if night times have always been like that?

My lo almost 2 but her nap routine has been similar since 15 months. She naps 10-12ise and may do another nap 3.30-4.30pm. She is in bed 6.45 usually and self settles. At 17-18 months I did have more night waking but I think there is a leap/sleep regression to take into account. In nursery she only has 50 minutes and is shattered coming home. I have same issue she won't go to sleep in buggy only occasionally and will only sleep in her cot. I struggle down the grandparents on a sunday to get her to nap its a nightmare. However she could be up all night or not settling herself so i am lucky there.
