Hi everyone,
Leo has been breastfed since birth and now that he's one we're in the process of switching over to cows milk. As he's been breastfed, I have no idea how much milk he's been having. Can anyone fill me in on the guidelines of how much milk a 1 year old should be having and how often? Also, what cups are you all using, he hasn't taken to the milk in his tommee tippee as I think he is so used to water coming out from that. X

My little boy is 13 months he has 5oz in morn and 5oz in afternoon. And 7oz at night. Still from a bottle ! Some days he doesn't drink it others he will. Not sure what is recommend tho lol. He has a sippy cup but will only have water from that x be interesting to see what everyone else does :) x

HV advised us if they have anything below 20oz to give them vitamin drops xx

Vitamin drops regardless of milk intake if it's cows milk as only formula (above 20oz) and breast milk have the addition Al nutrients. My lo has abidec vitamin drops and he loves them.

Thomas has 7oz in the morning and about 7oz at night sometimes more sometimes less. I just fill the bottle to about 5/6 and top up if he's drained it

I think with cows milk it's more to do with the calcium content than anything else. Between 1-3yrs they're meant to have 350mg. My daughter never took to cows milk as a drink so I made sure she got the calcium through her diet.x

My hv said its also to do with vitamin d and lack of sunlight and a number of cases across the uk of rickets!!!

Obviously a balanced diet helps but they say regardless to give them vitamins until they are older

Sorry Pumpkin I was just meaning it's more to do with calcium over the amount of milk consumed. Def agree with taking vitamins regardless!x

I was giving Leo vitamins but they really messed with his stomach, maybe I should try another brand.

Ah don't worry Goat, I didn't think you meant anything different wa just clarifying what I'd been told ;)

Defo try a different vitamin brand. HV's are now advising vitamins should be given from 6mths. My two have both had them since then and it is part of our breakfast routine now. My eldest has chewy ones now which are so much easier lol. I only started them because my first was small and underweight for his age so I wanted to give him a bit of a boost. I had no idea it is now recommended lol x
