I seem to be more worried about this than the actual labour now!

I keep reading that girls from here have gone into hospital when their contractions start only to be sent home again as they are not dilated enough.

Now my problem is that we don't own a car and I don't fancy getting a car hire there and then have to get one back if I am sent home again...and then one there again.

This is just a little something that I am a bit worried about :?

im sure if you said you havent got transport home they wouldnt turn you out on the street :?

Im sure if you explained the situation to the hospital they would let you stay? Surely??
How far away from the hospital do you live?

i'm sure they'll be good to you if you haven't got transport

my midwives have actually advised us to call for an ambulance rather than drive - particularly if its rush hour... but when you call the maternity unit first i think they're quite strict about telling you whether you should be coming in or staying at home...

Not far, but if in the rush hour the approximate twenty minute journey could take triple time.

just wait and see what happens on the day, and what time ur labour starts
but if ur not comfortable with them sending u home, dont go!!

You could sit in the hospital cafe instead. I'm sure it wouldn't put anyone off their coffee :rotfl: Sorry, I didn't mean to be insensitive. As others have said, if you don't have transport, tell them. They should be understanding.

Lol, I even thought of that myself

our hospital is over hour away so i asked about this, they said i can wait in cafe or walk around hospital hoping it does some thing

also i dont even know whos driving me :rotfl: will be myself at this rate

You might go into labour during the day then you could go for a walk outside. I worried about this too because I went to Epsom hospital which is further away than my local hospital St Helier because St Helier is pants. They won't kick you out hun, don't even waste time worrying about it, honest

I have the same problem. I would have to get a bus and they don't run very often. If I got a taxi it would cost me a tenner at least each way. I live ages away from the hospital. I hope they don't send me home when I go in!!

I'm going to be going to St Helier, I too have heard good things about Epsom, but chose the nearest. So far the hospital has been good and very thorough with me

They have day rooms on Maternity wards- I'm certain that they would be a little more sensitive to your plight particularly as it is your first baby and the fact that transport is a problem. Plead poverty so that a taxi can't be suggested!
