Hi

I had 5 stitches after my labour that 5 days later the midwife took out cos she said they was not "done" very well and was pulling me too much....

but now I think i am not going to Heal properly ... i have had a look down there and it has gaps in the scar!!?? I am really worried and keep crying about it!!!

Is there still time for it to close or will it stay open?? Has anyone had this or panic about this?? xxx

My stitches (too many to count) all fell out and they refused to restitch me so my wound healed up 'open'. Does it look like this is what's happening to you?

yes .... it is joined a tiny bit then a tiny hole then the rest is healed! but i think if i have sex or something the tiny bit that is joined will split again!!!

does your effect you now?? xx

My stitches were also taken out as they were doing more harm than good - I eventually healed but it took a good few weeks at least :)

Give it time, keep the area clean and dry and I'm sure you'll be fine :)

yours sounds better than mine, if it's joined at both ends with a gap you will be fine. Mine is just gaping, like it's healed without joining together at all

It doesn't cause problems day to day but it's a bit sensitive and I don't like the way it looks :( I went back to the hospital but they just said it will heal in time (she's 7 months old  )

My bits took ages to join together properly. Give it time hun.

OMG im so lucky i didnt have stitches i didnt realise you could acually see the damage?? i imagined it to all be inside???

my fairy just looked the same... ugly things though :rotfl:

thanks ... I really dont mind waiting but was just soooo worried it will not heal at all or like poor Kim it will heal open!

Bloody childbirth .... so much to worry about!! :x

Prob doesnt help when the hormones kick in after!!

xxxx

omg dionne you are so lucky, yeah you can see the damage its not the nicest sight!

so when people say they tear or have stitches is it on the out side??? i thought it was way up inside or some thing
*ouch*

nope i had no stiches with either, but then maybe i have a huge fairy

lol yeah it's on the opening between your 'fairy' (love that word) and your bum usually.

ow well if i have another il sneeze and it will shoot out :rotfl:

poor kris i have to tense down there during sex

Dionne - when I had stitches they were just inside, but then I'm not sure where that skin was originally :rotfl: The cord from it was rubbing the graze on the outside which is where the skin streeeeeeeeeetched and then tore like a big crater graze, that was the worst part!

Dont worry Dionne I have a bucket too now .... I am guessing sex will be like a sausage up an alley!!!! :rotfl: xxx

Hi Keely

Luckily my stitches dissolved without any problems but my MW checked them every day during my post natal care as she said it was unusual for them to be sewn all up - apparently usually they leave gaps between the stitches so that your skin can heal in the direction it needs to as with all joined up stitching sometimes it can cause pinching which then leads to hard lumps of skin being left

Like Kina says keep the area nice and clean and do lots of pelvic floor exercises to increase the blood flow in the area which will promote healing.

I'd didn't have a natural birth so had stitches with the c section and I worried constantly that the wound would open up or it wouldn't heal. I think it's hormones hun, you'll worry about everything for the next few months and then you tend to relax a bit. God damn you hormones :D

Dionne- our ante-natal physio said it was never too late to do your kegels so get squeezing girl! I tore inside but didn't need stitches, I can honestly say that it has only just stopped hurting at the beginning of sex and Elliott is nearly 8 months- not what I imagined at all! I also used to have weak bladder control- probably up to 4 or 5 months afterwards but I was so terrified of being incontinent that I did remember to do my kegels and it got better- phew! It's funny though because I know that if I'd read this thread pre-babe I would have been horrified but with babe here I just take it as part of the deal- how weird eh?

my stitches are really sore but i guess its only been 3 days,
i'm just worried how u meant to keep them dry when u have bleeding down there? my bleeding is still quite heavy
so its impossible to keep them dry..i keep bathing with tea tree oil so hopefully it will all be ok..its just so sore i hope it heals soon!

all this stuff...... i never really thought about the soreness/stitches/bleeding and after pains before i got pregnant!
