i know recently we have had a few posts about this... .but im going to add to it :-)

ive been looking at nurserys for baby to go to.... and im struggling slightly cos they are all booked up for the next year.... but i wantd to kno how much help we would get...

but my problem is, on the website ive entered all the information and they have come back with a figure and it says "This is based on your household income of £33000.00.

Child Tax Credit £1396.50
Childcare element of Working Tax Credit £632.93
Sub total £2029.43

so how do i know if this figure is what we are gona get to put towards the end of this financial year.... or a whole year.... cos its gona make a bloody huge difference if that figure is just from now to april (ive worked it out that the figure they have given is a yearly figure) but i dont wana get my hopes up thinking we will get a lot more help that we actaully will do,

any1 any advice or experience???

thanks x

that website is a nightmare hubby has tried a couple of times and got different figures he is going to ring them

I really dont rely on Tax Credits anymore cos every year they get it wrong and we end up having to reduce the nect years amount in order to repay them.
We were paying out £125.00 per week to our childminder before Charlie started school in September and only received £90.00 a month cos apparently we dont qualify for the working element of child tax credits as our annual household income is in the region of £34,000.00. I tried to calculator and it gave a lower figure than we actually receive.
I dread to think how much we get when need to place this little one with the childminder as well as its going to cost in the region of £175.00 a week but I cant afford not to work full-time...madness!!!!

Just re-done the calculation and it tells you at the bottom of the results that the quoted figure would be from 08/11/10 til 02/04/11 so from now til end of the financial year, therefore the remainder of the tax year and would 'hopefully' be higher for the next financial year.

i thought this.... its works out that we should get ( if baby is in child care 5 full days while we are both at work paying £190 per week to the care provider, about £90 per week help based on what the figures it is from now until end of tax year) which is like nearly half what we have to pay.... to me this seams a lot of help from them.... not that im complanining, the more help the better!! but it just seams kinda too good to be true if you know what i mean,

i really dont wana have to depend on my mum n OH's mum to have baby 1 day each per week, but it will mean i get to keep more of my wages and not pay some1 else to look after my baby... which ive never wanted to do, but i really dont think i can afford to be a stay at home mum :-( its mad isnt it....

oh well a lottery win is needed.. and that will solve everything

its stupid isnt it,

i rang them this morning, stayed on hold for nearly 20 minutes, for them to say that because i havent had the baby, they cant give me any advice, ok i understand, but a little bit of tact wouldnt of gone too far, if you get a "micheal" put the phone down!!! he said you dont know Amy that if you will be alloud to keep the baby or if it will survive  WTF!!!

im due in 2weeks and it REALLLY wasnt what i wanted to hear,

needless to say... even tho he took no details of me because i couldnt claim as im childless... i will be making a VERY harsh letter of complaint...
:shakehead:

rant over :-)

The amount of tax creedits would be slightly higher until your baby is 12 months old then I think it reduces by £600 per year as this is the new baby element (this is being scrapped April 2011 but those who have a child before will receive full entitlement apparently).
We have decided to claim what he can and put some money away each month until I return to work in June 2011 so we have a childcare fund otherwise we will really struggle. Luckily I receive nearly full pay for my entire maternity leave as I work in the NHS, we struggled with our first child in 2006 and scraped our way through the finances!!

I have just called them and i did the online calculator and it came up the same with both £21 a week!!! But they said on the phone they cannot give you a total figure until they have the full information!!!

Surely with having my NI number they can pull up full details of me and OH's income........but at least i got through first time and not have to be on hold for ages!!!!
