work related question.

my DH has started a new job this week as a security guy. He should have 16days supervision but he had 30mins. He went to a new site today and the people working in that shop had no idea who he was. Anyway hes working 11 hours today and no one from his office have told him about breaks. So he left for 30mins at dinner and then 30mins at 4. Now his office have called him (which i can only guess that its something bad)

can they sack him for this? surely you cant work 11 hours with no break?

dont mean to put a downer on his job hun but i know most security jobs up here are crap, my OH used to do one and once they left him on a site with no radio/phone to contact anyone if something happend they forgot he was their

It is against the law to work for 4 hours withought a 15 minute break, they should have told him when to take a break and how long he is entitle to ect

Im sure they cant sack him for having a break but just depends on the firm he is working for

yeah - the job is shitty, but they cant take on a new guy and not even explain breaks to him. He was suposed to meet some one from active security today to be shown around and have everything explained but there was no one there. Its crazy!

thats crap he should ring them and tell them he isnt prepared to be treated like a school kid !!!

today hes working at the spar up the road and the cashiers keep asking him questions like "are you suposed to work here?" and "are you really the new security guy?" ...why has no one told them? it would freak me out if i worked ina shop and a guy was stood there for 11 hours!

its normaly supermarkets they put security guys into maybe its all differnt wher you are but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for him

aparently theyve told him hes suposed to tell some one before he has a break - even though no one from the shop knows why hes there and no one from active security is there, so who the bloody hell is he suposed to tell.

theres no way hes paying £200 for his uniform (3 shirts and a clip on tie) if hes going to be sacked! cheeky people!
