Hubby and I have spent time researching things and our list is well and truly compiled. However, as yet we've yet to start really buying anything. We have a cot, given to us by friends, baby clothes to start us off and that is about it.

However, these are some of the things we plan to buy in the coming couple of months. Any of you going for the same things? Or have you found something different? Why do you like the products you are going for? What caught your eye? Feel free to discuss as differing POV are always good and we might see/consider things we've not thought of yet. This isn't a review of the product as I've not used them in action (just demos), but what appeals and what we hope will prove useful to us and also, where possible cost effective in the longer term.

Tummy Tub We had initially thought of going for an ordinary baby bath, but have read many reviews and reports and thought lets opt for this instead. I really like the concept and think it'll be a good buy. OK, its a bit more expensive than a bath, but tbh I think, hope baby and I (or OH) will enjoy the experience a bit more with the tub.

Close Baby Carrier We saw this in our local independant baby shop and fell in love with it. I like the more natural look and the fact it goes up to 2 years old/32lb is an added bonus. Means we only invest in this one baby carrier, rather than starting off with a sling and then going onto a back harness. I like the fact baby is facing you but can also, as they get bigger move up and see the world. Having used a back pack to carry a year old plus I found them a huge strain on my neck and back, especially when the child lurched from one side to the other to see things. Not good when hill walking. Also I could not interact or see their face when up behind me and didn't enjoy the time out as much as I could have done. Then there was the getting myself and child into it when on my own  Put me off them so this baby carrier should be a good alternative. And hubby really likes it and feels he'll be better able to bond with our child in one of these. He can use it as much as he wants :)

The Doomoo beanbag Again a find in an independant store. Fell in love with them. Really like the bean bag and are opting for one of these over a baby bouncer now. And all being well it'll last into toddler hood for our LO and make a cool seat for them :) So while the intitial outlay is going to be more, hopefully in the long term we will get our use out of it. *Edited to add - Am aware its not great for babies when they try to sit up on their own so for a period of time it would not be used. Only when small baby and then when able to sit up unaided and onward*

Highchair/table I've a friend who used one of these and think its the one for us. I like its solid, sturdy and converts into a table and chair as LO grows, so will last a long time and get lots of use outside of mealtimes :)

Anything you ladies (or gents) have found you want to share? :)

I've seen the beanbag baby things in argos - in their new catalogue and i thought WOW i might get one as they look so cool! Lol.

I've looked at the baby sling but am worried i might hurt my back with them as i'm rather weak!! Also, they seem a lot of money to me!

A Highchair! That's something i haven't even thought about! (ahh) may wait until baby is born.

yep ive also seen the bean bag in argos - so cute

I have approx 20 bits of paper all with the heading TO BUY FOR BABY :rotfl: I have literally just sat down to do some research and narrow this down to 1 list. One of the main points Im keeping in mind is budget, Im not loaded at the moment and I have made some unecessary purchases already ie. bottle warmer - I could've used a jug and hot water. Im such a magpie, its a natural instinct I have  I will buy so many things I really dont need just because they look nice. God this is turning into a confession - What is wrong with me?!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: *leaving swiftyly now to sort out my list* :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hehe awww

Why not make your list and run it past people here. Chances are a few suggestions can be made to help whittle your list down. Tips for bottle warming etc are always good and if like you and I, people are on a budget, its good to share tips and ideas to help save a few pennies. We had a long list but have been really ruthless in some areas and have cut it down a fair bit.

That's why we did research. Something like the baby carrier, which we plan and hope to use for a long time will work out a bit cheaper in the long term, than buying a sling for early on and a back harness later. Its not for everyone, but as we live on a farm and often need our hands when out walking over the fields and so on, its good to know we can carry LO if they get tired and don't want to walk. That sort of thing.

Same as the highchair. If it can then double into a small table and chair its perfect for us and our needs in the space we have. We can move it into the sitting room or LO's bedroom and they can have a table to sit at for drawing or whatever else they want to do :)

Oooo in Argos eh? *goes to check price* Thanks for the tip :)

I've developed a rather unhealthy obsession for baby shoes. I plan on having a shelf especially for them as i have so many. My defence is i've bought lots of sizes and styles. Lol. I bought 6 pairs the other day  (felt i needed to confess too)

Hmm not the same brand. The Argos ones say good up to 6 months old, which defeats my purpose of having something that will last into toddler hood and a bit beyond

I'm getting a Tummy Tub - I put a post in Ask a Mum to see what other people thought of it.

I have only just sorted what pram I want and I think its being bought soon.

Nothing else I really need I don't think - I'll end up getting loads of clothes when the baby is born and I don't need furniture as I have no room. Got the moses basket and getting a cot from my sis when her little one gets a big boy bed.
