For a day or two I have had a niggling wisdom tooth pain- I get this periodically.

This afternoon however my whole bottom jaw on that side is really pulsating and sore- are there any painkillers I can take if it continues getting worse?

I want to avoid them if I can but might need to take something later? :(

I've been told paracetomol and codeine (co-codamol) is OK but be careful as they are even more likely than normal to cause constipation - keep well hydrated.

Alternatively look in to using a local anaesthetic designed for dental use like Anbesol (you can use this for teething pains later too) but check with your pharmacist, should be OK though as they say it's OK for babies..

Thanks- if it gets worse might need to resort to something.

Haven't had problems since being pregnant but I get this kind of pain intermittently quite often so I sympathise!

The thing about co-codamol being OK came direct from my GP, I'd keep it to a minimum in any case (I normally chug strong painkillers like smarties but I feel guilty just taking paracetomol these days.. even though it hardly has any effect on me!)

Hope the pains ease off soon, it's the last thing you need especially dealing with all the changes your body's going through!

Oh - and don't get confused abotu the Anbesol, remember Anusol is something very different! Though it might come in handy later in pregnancy

ive had chronic toothache with my wisdom tooth when i first found out i was pregnant and i just put clove oil on it to numb it, though it tastes absolutely disgusting

my sister in law had this all throguh her pregnancy and was advised by her doc on what ahe could take. i know towards the end she was in agony and hadnt been back to docs since early on - she was given smething much stonger and told off by the doc for not coming in sooner. although they cant give anything strong early on if it flares up badly towards the end they will give something stronger.

i would visit docs hun - not worth the risk of not checking whats right to take.

hope you feel better soon!
