Will i be starkers??

Having a C-section on Friday, will i be naked? im assuming i cant wear any pants but cant i wear a bra or a nightie pulled right up or something?
And how long afterwards until i can drive again?

im pretty sure its 6 weeks after a section they say not to drive for, and as for what to wear i would say a pj top should be fine but dont know about bottoms

my boyfriends mum had a hysterectamy recently, and the rules are the same as a c-section, i think & they say you can drive when you're able to perform an emergency stop. i think it was about a month for her

A friend of mine who works as a self-employed riding instructor was back on the horse two weeks after her caesarian. But then she's hard as nails. I guess it depends on the woman, the circumstances, how it heals, etc.

Am moving this to 'Ask a mum' so more C-sec mums see it. A lot of your third tri pal will be first time mums and not able to help.

Not that I have had a C section but have just had an op. Chances are it will be hospital gown of some sort and that's it. They don't have anything metal on you for ops so a bra would be out. Same with jewellery etc. You'll then be covered by the surgical cloths and also a screen goes up.

I had an op yesterday and was asked to get totally undressed and put on hospital gown (a lovely tie up backless number) and that was it. I even had to remove my hair band as it had a metal clasp on it. I was allowed to wear paper panties (hospital supplied them) down to theatre but they cut them off me to do the op once I was knocked out.

To be fair you really wont care at the time so dont be worrying yourself over it..


Driving - my insurance said 6 weeks.

Ring up your insurance.

The insurance wont cover you unless you are able to perform an emergency stop.

I wore a nightie for mine and didn't have to put on the stockings until afterwards. My nightie was lifted up just as they put up the screen so I didn't feel too exposed!

I wore my nightie they put the stockings on while i was having the section i didnt relise i had them on till the next day

Thanks all for replying. everyone seems to have said a bit different though so guess i'll just have to wait and see. Im sure your right that i wont care at the time but at the minute im hating the thought of being practically paralized to a bed whilst naked and knowing that people are messing about with my body behind a screen. I dont like the feeling of not having control i know it sounds stupid and im just panicing because its an operation but i'd feel like i was being abused. I just dont want to be naked with people all around me knowing that i cant move from the chest down and they could do what they want.
Silly i know, im just a lil scared

I had c sec, i wore a hospital nighty (one that does up at back), went home 2 days after op, was walking about with no discomfort after a week (1st week could walk but quite sore) was driving by 4 weeks, and felt absolutely fine by 6 weeks.
All in all a surprisingly easy recovery and i would not be worried to have another...
(PS- mine was an emergency one too)
