Necessary is very much a personal opinion/choice. There are ladies on here who have chosen not to have it. I was extremely anxious about getting it - I'd read all sorts of horror stories online (which I presume is what's giving you doubts) - I had one booked at 28 weeks then cancelled it because I was unsure. Then I re-booked and had it at 30weeks. I told myself that there was no evidence whatsoever about the jab being harmful to baby, all the stuff online was circumstantial/hypothetical - whereas there is actual evidence that babies have died or suffered permanant damage from whooping cough. Don't get me wrong I was still a nervous wreck - but I know that it was the right decision for me.
2 weeks on Im feeling fine (no reduced movements from baby etc) had a scan 1 week ago showed that he was happy and placenta etc all functioning normally.
there is no 'right' opinion hun, only what's 'right' for you
Xxx
I'm the same as Summer. I was booked in at 28 weeks and cancelled it in a right panic. I'm still not totally sure but I have booked it again for next week when I will be 34 weeks. I can't risk my baby catching it and equally its not going to be possible to keep relatives away for 8 weeks or so.
I actually had this today as one of my colleagues at work has got whooping cough. Over in a seconds didn't even feel it and am absolutely fine. And peace of mind I'm not exposing me or my baby to it xxx
I had mine with no problems it's a very personal choice. But for me having it was the right choice. Working with the public and helping at my daughters nursery was one of the factors to get it xx
