Hi girls

Just wondered at how many weeks you plan to/already have stop working? Im finding it really hard to get motivated at work and hate sitting at my desk all day....

hey! i finish next friday so il be 35 weeks but the first bit is holiday, my maternity leave starts on 16th aug! Think it really depends on what kind of job you have, i work in a day nursery so its quite physical, thee is no sitting around all day and i have found the last few weeks really hard, definately ready to go next week! xx

Hello - my last day in the office is 19th Aug and im due just over a week later. The next couple of weeks will be busy but after that it should be quiet. I'm finding it takes me a lot longer to get to work with a bus ride and 25 min walk after, which seems to take almost an hour now but I figured that i'm going to be spending a lot of time at home when he is here so it's good to keep motivated and round people. I'm a sadddo and love my job though! I could work from home, but choose not to!!! I will prob feel different in a few weeks when i can barely move though. Not a day goes by without someone commenting on me having twins, when i'm really just having one baby elephant :) When are you due to leave work?

im finishing at christmas and baby due 9th march, but i am using holidays too so will actually officially start maternity 8 weeks before baby due. i'm having 12 months off and then using 7 weeks holiday at end of leave, so i will actually end up having 12 months with baby.

it's cos my commute is 1 hr 15 and i just dont wanna be doing that when heavily pregnant, plus job is a bit too stressful and so just thought it made sense to finish at our year end, rather than going back into next year and just doing not a lot...may as well be getting ready for boo boo xx

I was planning to stop 4 weeks before my due date but got signed off by doc at 24 weeks because my job involved alot of walking around and spd made it impossible to continue. I miss it though, wish i didnt have to stop so early, i bet by the time im due to go back i wont want to go lol

I am still working and wont stop working, not entitled to maternity leave either so it sucks:( Dont feel very motivated at the moment either, but at same time it make time go faster for me x

Don't start maternity leave till 21st August but cos I am a teacher I finished school yesterday - YIPPEEEEEEE. Don't think I would have been able to work longer than 36 weeks if it hadn't been the holidays coming up though cos I'm pooped!

I'm stopping work on the 19th Aug, taking a weeks holiday before starting maternity when I'm 33 and a half weeks. My job is quite physical and has very long days and i'm suffereing already with them so will be glad to finish. I'm also in a way a bit terrified of stopping as I'm not sure if i'm going to go back afterwards so its all a bit of a leap into the unknown!
I also only have to work 12 days between now and then due to some well planned holiday time :)

I exactly same as Katie...finish next Friday at 35 weeks! And boy I'm sooooo ready!! Work in Hunan resources and learning and development, so spent thurs and fri delivering a 2 day training course!! Was pooped last night lol!

The first month is holiday, so start my mat leave a week before my due date! Thinking of having the full year but well see :) xxx

Thanks for replies! I am a travel agent and have my own shop in town. I dont have any staff so its just me so I'm just plodding on. I can do what I do from home exactly the same as I do from here so I'm thinking of starting to work from home on 1st August but have people see me by appointment. I plan to be out of office for just 2, maybe 3 months and then I will have to get back at the helm. Main reason is I only get £125 per week MA and only allowed to "tap" into my business for 10 days during entire maternity leave or money stops!! Once baby is born I plan to walk the 2 miles to work with baby in pram every day (and 2 miles back) for exercise, fresh air, escapism and to update my brochures and window offers. The good news for me is that when I found out I was pregnant, I contacted a local estate agent who was looking for office space so we now share our shop. This means that although I'm not physically here, my doors are open, people can help themselves to brochures and Catherine can give them my business card to make an appointment to see me or email me/call with their travel enquiry. Does this sound like a good plan?

My SPD really painful so at moment when I sit down for any length of time, when I stand up its pure agony! My job literally involves sitting on my ass the entire day so although its not a physical job, its a painful one! At least if I was at home I could get up, do something, walk, lie down etc to ease my discomfort. It may evben give me some time to maybe paint my kids room and pack my hospital bag! Sooooo disorganised - just over 5 weeks to go though!!

ive finished ive got all my holidays to have before i start my mat leave on 11th sept x

Working as long as i can.
The delights of self employment mean i too get barely anything unless I'm working.

I finish the week before due date, need to use my leave at the end of maternity leave so I get full time pay before going back part time

Luckily i get 9 months paid maternity so i left as soon as i could and only lasted to 30 weeks... myself and baby grew very very quickly meaning that by the time i was 6 months i was counting down the days to leave. My job involved me sitting down all day too and i think sometimes that can be just as hard as having a physical job because although having bum and back ache from sitting down seems silly it really does get unbearable.

i know hearing that probably hasn't helped your situation at all but I feel your pain i hope you find a solution that works best for you!

i think that sounds like a good plan Tracy!

i stopped at 35+2 and had two weeks holiday to start with and so my mat leave started on the 17th july! i get paid for 9 months and get a total of 12 months off . . . BUT the company i work for has decided to close in august 2012 and some parts are going to close before that date, ssooooo i might not have a job to go back to, but as long as i get my 9 months paid mat leave i'm not to worried, as i wasn't going to go back anyway as the hours wouldn't have worked for us!

I am having holiday 4 weeks before my due date and my mat leave kicks in the day before my due date xx

Tracey, I think your plan sounds like a good one, it's great that even if you're not there, the office is still open. Definitely allows you to be flexible. If it hurts to sit in the office, you should be working from home. I agree with others that office based jobs can be just as physically challenging as manual jobs. Plus what with dealing with customers, there is the need to be friendly etc even when feeling like a right moody so and so (unless that struggle is just mine).

Sounds like a plan for after baby's arrival, thinking of doing similar myself, although OH has said he'll arrange his working day around me (he's self employed too) so he can be with Pickle at the times I need to work.
