Hi I am just interested to know when you all started weaning your little ones and if you done it before the suggested six months then why? Thanks in advance for youyr replies.

i weaned hope at 15 weeks coz she was unsettled after taking 8oz bottles and started not sleeping through, she is now on two meals a day and the happiest baby in the world :D

i started at 14 weeks and he was unsettled and started waking during night again.

I think it really depends on the individual baby. Leorah is thriving on just breastmilk so I am going to start at 6 months but if babies start waking in the night for food after sleeping through then I guess they are ready for a bit more :)

i started Louie about a month ago, but he wasn't really interested so i waited & he has been having 1 meal a day for about 3 wks & yesterday & today hes had brekkie (baby cereal) & lunch!!

i started coz he was so miserable & i wondered if the reason coz he was hungry for more than milk.
i think the later you can leave it the better, good luck.x

i started charlotte on solids at 2 months as she wasnt getting enought from her milk and she would have 2 bottles at once. now she in on most of our solids. my HV wasnt happy but if you ask me know one knows your child as well as you and so ul know when they r ready

I started at 4months. I felt Ellie wasn't get enough from just milk (she had been going 3hrs between feeds but that was dropping down to close to every 2hrs) and also I needed to go back to work when she hit 5months, so I wanted to start her off while I had time to feed her. It started really well but hasn't progressed how I would have liked once she hit the 6month mark.

i started Dior at 12weeks she had bad reflux and was such an unhappy baby but solids really helped her.
i tryed Harley at 4 months but he was not interested but i tryed again at 6months and he loves his solids now

I started Otis on solids at around 5months, letting him dictated what and how much he wanted, he only has one meal a day (at 5pm) and the rest is breast (he still feeds around every 3hrs and still wakes during the night). Since today I'll be introducing an early feed as well at around 10am - this morning he hadn't eaten anything from 4am till 10:30am so I was getting worried and the HV advised that maybe I should try and introduce another solid feed, which I did and it went down a treat.
Personally I would just say go with the flow and just do what you think is best for your baba, besides they'll let you know if they are ready for solids.

I am not sure what to do as Jake hasn't been waking in the night but he has been having 3-4 oz about every hour throughout the day (around 6 7oz bottles a day). For the last few days he has been moaning constantly and the only way to make him happy is to feed him. I was thinking about trying him with some baby rice or something as breakfast but I am not sure whether to or not as my HV said wait until six months and all the websites say wait untill atleast 20 weeks as they can't digest food properly until then. Do you think I could change his milk from SMA gold to SMA white for hungrier babies?

When you started weaning then what did you start with and how much how often?

I gonna watch this thread cos I haven't weaned Nicola yet - she had chicken pox and has been on anti biotics and really went off her milk until a couple of weeks ago. She is 5 months tommorow and I was thinking of some baby rice soonish. Do you do it inbetween bottle feeds. She wouldn't have the patience
when its time for her bottle

Well the last couple of days I have given Jake organic baby rice from a packet that you make up with breast milk or formula for breakfast. I only gave him a couple of teaspoons half way through his milk feed. I think you are meant to start by giving them just one meal a day for a while and then increase it to two and so on.

Hiya Gemz sorry no-one answered your previous question.

I would have said go onto the hungrier baby milk first TBH.

About the baby rice, at first it is literally supposed to be a little taste to get them used to the texture, you can give it when it suits, usually when they are not too hungry.

Hope that helps :D

I don't think I could take the bottle away from her she screams and I guess she wouldn't be interested in a spoon so I was going to leave it til an hour after her bottle
