when can my baby hear our voices?

morning ladies..

just been looking on pregnancy sites.. bbc pregnancy calender says that it can hear our voices now and to start talking to it??

i thought it was later on that they started hearing. what do you think? would be lovely to tell my hubby tonight that the baby can hear us now and let him start talking to it lol..

i think it's from 19 weeks. But what i was reading said baby can hear now but mostly your heartbeat and digestive system. I would talk to it now, you never know.

yeh i think its possible from about 14 weeks, there will be no swearing around me soon or watch out lol

I'm not sure. They had BabyTV on the telly in the waiting room at the hospital yesterday and were talking about this. It didn't give a specific week but did show a woman reading her bump a story! Not sure I could manage that without feeling really self conscious, but I don't suppose it would hurt to start now. Presuming that your fella is not going to mock you!

I read in the Bounty book it could only hear voices from 23/24 weeks, but I don't know...

yeh i wud say my bubs became more responsive to noise and voices from about 25 weeks but that doesnt mean she couldnt hear them until then.

i think until they can distinguish between voices your voice sounds like a vibration or a humming to them which is just as soothing and then later on they start tellin the dif between you and your OH.

my LO loves her dads songs!! there is 2 songs he always plays and whenever he does she kicks for england. she also kicks when my daughter is near me and starts talking.

i have never talked to her exclusively tho she just responds to us all talking to each other.

Around 29 weeks but its the mid 20's that they can distinguish voices clearly

Lisa, on this page it says the baby can hear the mothers voice, heart and stomach from 15 weeks, so its all a bit different from site to site isnt it?

i have found 4 web sites now that say the ear bones harden in week 15 and they can start to hear noises from then. as the bones harden more it can hear more..so im guessing it can hear from now.. charlotte put a lulaby thing on my tummy yesterday and the baby was moving loads.. so im guessing it could hear it.. as it was not moving b4 she did it..
