I am not sure what to dress Adam in for his Baptism.

Option 1 - Is to wear the family Christening Robe that my gran made out of my mum's wedding dress for me to get baptised in.

Option 2 - buy a modern white satin boys suit.

What do you think? I don't want Adam to look like a girl in a robe , but I do like the idea of keeping tradition and sentiment.

I recently went to a christening and the little boy was dressed in a lovely little suit with a lovely waistcoat, i thought he looked so smart and cute.

So i have voted for that :D

Would your Nan/Mum be offended if you took the robe and had it made into something more boy like? You could get a dressmaker to make a waistcoat or something using the material and then you still get the sentimental value x

id have him in a traditional christening robe

id go for the rob too i think, you could always put him in a teenyweeny suit at a wedding or posh doo but the christening robe, its either use it now or never, plus its a lovely tradition to have kept going :)

I didn't want to go modern as such with Isaac's Christening outfit, but we don't have a passed-down gown either, which I'd personally have used, I think it's a lovely tradition :) So, I went for something inbetween, though I made sure it was silk to make it extra special :)

The first pic isn't great but can't find his Christening pics at mo. It was a gro outfit, with no legs, and a button detail front, it fastened at the back, complete with a tie front jacket and hat. We also had a silk bib embroided with his name and the 'Christening Day' words and date on it, he looked beautiful, but I'm biased

Thank you all.

I have decided to get Adam Baptised in the family gown and get a fancy modern outfit for the party afterwards. We can use the modern one again at some local gala days that are coming up during the summer. xxx
