What to expect at Doctors?

Hi all. We have been trying for baby number 2 for 11 months, I went to the Drs 4 months ago and they said wait until 12 months of trying. Being 40 in Feb 2018 this worried me as I know times not on my side. We are both booked in to see Dr beginning of Nov, what's the process? What tests will they do?

I am going to the assited conception clinic tmrw after trying for baby no1 for 11 months. Before that you usually get ovulation bloods checked on day 21 of your cycle..and the man gets his swimmers checked...then referred on to assisted conception for more tests. Good luck!

I think tests vary between areas but in my experience they did hormone blood tests on me and sperm analysis for him. GP also arranged pelvic ultrasound for me then we were referred to fertility clinic. I was also referred to gynae as they found a polyp on the scan and I had an HSG also. Due to your age, I would definitely push for tests as a lot of GPs are crap and you often need to be persistent. Also I thought they were supposed to refer you after 6 months if you're
over 35?

I used to work in a Fertility Clinic and definitely with your age you should have been referred after 6 months to a fertility clinic or at least have some tests. 12 months wait is for younger couples.

Usually, when over 35, you only have to have tried for 6 months I thought? Certainly that applied for me and is what my midwife in Gloucester said.

Really hope they do all the necessary tests quickly for you xxx
