What signs did you have that labour was close?

Hi all

For those of you who have been through this all before, what signs if any, did you have that labour was imminent? Obviously there is the obvious of show/ waters/ contractions. But what else did your body do?

I have had proper insomnia for two nights now whereby I literally haven't closed my eyes, I am hoping this might be a sign but know it's more likely nerves keeping me awake!

So nesting, sleeping patterns, pains and aches, toilet patterns, emotions, strange behaviour... Let's have it :-)

Cheers

Watching this as I had a planned section last time so never went into labour. Feel like a FTM, not knowing what to expect!

Good question! I was induced last time. I feel so anxious about going into labour myself. I keep having dreams that my waters are going to explode when im out lol! Also worried im going to go through the night when my partner is on nightshift. I will be terrified on my own! Definately starting to get nervous!

I think I'm much more nervous inside than out. This feels like an extended two week wait. Every pain, niggle, irregularity, i am completely over analysing lol!

Hi,
I didn't have any signs at all before my waters broke 10 days early, while I was asleep in bed!!

Good luck

Literally, nothing at all for me. I was convinced every day that 'this was it' with every niggle, movement, bowel movement, twinge etc...... then all of a sudden I started having contractions (and I knew they were contractions right away!! You will too!) and shortly afterwards it was all go-go-go!!

I had really bad aching in my pelvis for 2 days prior to going into labour. That was the only sign I noticed.

Thanks ladies... Moral of the story is to stop looking for anything I think lol

I had some mild cramps through the day but I just knew I was going to go into labour. I literally had nothing more thanild cramps wheb I went to bed , but text sil to say to keep phone on as we may well need her to have my step daughter in the night. Was really bizarre but I just knew! X

I had nothing on the day to indicate I was going to be going into labour. Lost my plug across the two days previous (Weds and Thurs) and resigned myself to going over. Then 8:30pm Friday night, BOOM.

With this one I went into false labour at 34 weeks and have had naff all since, despite constant symptom watching!

As you said, moral of the story is don't symptom watch!

It's like the two week wait all over again haha! Can't help but symptom spot xxx

I was so convinced one day it was 'happening' I tried to convince hubby to stay home from work (was certain I was losing my plug.... I was not!). Good job he has more common sense than me.....I didn't go into labour for another three weeks!!

Tri hopping...not much in the way of signs for me either! I lost a little bit of plug maybe a week before then nothing til my waters broke at 6.20am...she was her 6 hours later! X

Started losing the plus about 7-10 days before labour started, had terrible back ache for few days before, felt generally unwell and was a little crampy (felt like period cramps). I also remember feeling rather pukey and having a lot of loose number 2s! x

I feel like iv had/have the majority of those 'symptoms' lmao. Iv been so achy and crampy. Iv had BH twice and each time iv thought 'this is it' then nothing. They were pretty damn strong and sore.. i didnt think they were supposed to hurt? This also worries me that im not going to cope so well in labour lol. Im barely sleeping im so uncomfortable. When i need the toilet i feel like im going to have the runs. My tail bone feels bruised and it travels right round to my pubic bone. I can sit long cause its sore and uncomfortable. Last night i got up to pee and i swear i felt something click & move. The shooting pain was wild! Will definately be mentioning that bit to my mw on friday. It hasnt eased any the past week!

Feels good to just get that off my chest! I feel like i moan too much to my OH so i try to keep my mouth shut hahaha!

I was laughing at my OH this morning text saying he is getting stressed n wants it over and done with and it might stop me being moody is baby appears....I was like aye join the club you'd be the same with constant heartburn n no sleep. He says I wake him every time I get up anyway.....dont feel like I have any symptoms and im due sunday....if you ladies never had symptoms then maybe I wont lol x

With my first I had all the classic signs, losing plug, aches and pains, couldn't get comfy that lasted a week before anything actually started 'properly'. With my second I had none. I went for a sweep on the Wednesday and they couldn't do it as she was to high up. I woke the Sunday morning having 'contractions' but knew they weren't strong enough to do anything. Went to hospital and monitored they thought I had a uti that's was it irritating my uterus. I was examined again and nothing had changed. They kept me in hospital to monitor me. I went into labour later that day.

I am the same (not the clicky pain thing) but the bh, toilet etc for weeks and every time, I think is this it?

The only sign I had last time was a burst of energy during which I went for a 3 hour walk. I had a funny pain down my thigh as well but didn't think anything ofIit at the time. Got home from my walk at 3pm, had a show at 5pm, started getting very mild period pains at 8pm, went to bed and woke up at 4am with contractions. DS was here 14 hours later, 25 hours after the show.

Other than feeling energetic and going for a walk I had absolutely no other signs or symptoms that labour was on the way and felt completely normal, so it really can come on that suddenly xxx

I was in a crappy mood all day the Friday, my mum said when I spoke to her on the phone I just sounded so fed up. My waters went at 2:30 am on Saturday :) I'm sure it had something to do with putting clean covers on the bed! Xx
