I was signed off work a few weeks ago due to dizzyness and headaches caused by low blood pressure. When i went back to the doctors yesterday to see if i can go back to work she took one look at me and said she doesn't think i'm ready to go back to work!!! She asked me if i'd felt the benefit of being off work, which i definately have - headaches have gone and only small bit of dizzyness. She said that if it was money reasons i needed to go to work for then she would sign me back to work but i had to promise her i would go back the moment i started feeling unwell again.

She then went on to say that some women can work like the clappers all through pregnancy and some women don't carry babies very easily at all. Unfortunately she said i'm the latter.

So, i'm back at work today and i feel truely awful. I have a headache already!!!

What should i do? We really need my wages (i don't get sick pay) but i feel awful!

Sorry its such a long post, i'm just getting stressed about it.

Can't you ask your work to find you something to do which doesn't give you headaches etc, or get them to suspend you?
I know how you're feeling though I'm experiencing similar probs re sickness.

This is a tough one, if you really need the wages its difficult to go off, ( I dont get sick pay either so I know what you mean). However obviously your health is more important, and that of your baby, you will always manage, if it was me I think I would struggle on for a bit but if I felt my health or my babys health was suffering I would say sod it and I would go off.

Could you consider part time, or reduced hours?? You could always ask and see how you get on.

Thanks girls,

Ella - I am seriously considering asking for reduced hours for a while, not sure if my boss will go for it though.

I'm now wondering if i might have to take maternity leave earlier than planned (planned to stop work at 36 weeks)
