I have always used whole milk for my daughter, she is now 2 and the health visitor said I can move her to semi skimmed.
What milk does your 2/3 year olds have? I just thought they stayed on whole until they were a bit older xx

Whole milk but only because he's a bit skinny so trying to fatten him up. I don't think there is anything wrong with using semi skimmed at that age?

I always thought it was a matter of personal preference! I've always had semi skimmed and can't even think of stomaching whole although, I don't mind it in soups or brews..

I'd assume from the advise giving by the HV, she might mean that up two 2 years of age the whole milk is advised because of the calorific and fats contents and now when cows milk has been adapted into the diet and healthy fats and calories needed are taken from other sources too, so it's now fine to use semi skimmed instead of whole...?

I was wondering how much longer I need to buy whole too kim!
Noah is a big boy anyway, but me and OH cant stomach whole so we buy semi separately, i know milk isnt that expensive nowadays anyway but it would save a bit and fridge space just getting a big 6pinter semi for us all to share!

Hes had it a few times when ive run outta whole. X

I've been giving my two and a half year old semi skimmed since just before he turned two.

He was having whole milk when he was still drinking a lot of it, but he still had it out of a baby bottle. When we got rid of the baby bottles just after Christmas he stopped drinking as much milk. It just wasn't worth the faff of buying separate milk for the odd drink and bit in his cereal.

Personally I prefer skimmed milk, so semi is a compromise for us all.

Think il go with the semi skimmed then, she is slowly starting to drink less so it will be easier just to get the one type xx thanks for your replies. Xx
