My 20 week scan is 2nd feb, I'm excited and nervous but also worried the scanner might slip up an tell me the sex! Haha! We don't want to know and will make that clear at the start but what if she/he says he or she or if I'm looking at the screen... Baby moves an it's obvious it's a boy coz there's a willy or something!!!

I know these people are professional and have probably been in the situation a million times but I keep thinking about it! Does anyone know if they turn the screen away or something to do certain checks?

Thanks in advance! xxxx

I've been thinking of this too, b/c I don't want to know, but I think you need quite a trained eye to be able to tell the sex via a sonogram. I would just tell them at the start you won't want to know and then lie back and enjoy! I doubt you will be able to see....

xx

All the midwifes and sonographers refer to it as 'baby'. They know that I know the sex and still don't say he. Think its drummed in there heads to always say baby. My mum says this is the case once there born too x

With this baby I wouldnt of been able to tell it was a boy without my doctor pointing it out, but with my first son I would of been dissapointed if I didnt want to know as the whole way through the scan he kept flashing what was obviously his willy at us, the sonographer wouldnt of been able to hide that. Hope baby has there legs crossed so the theres no chance of flashes !

I've been thinking the same too.. what time is your scan as we are the same day!

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Loulou- Uh ohh! Haha, as much as I wanna see the baby for as long as poss I might have to keep my eyes shut an ask if it's safe to look! Haha.

Snr1982- My scan is half 1 I think. Il have to double check but I'm pretty sure! Exciting hey?! Under 2 weeks to go... Woooohoooo

Xxx

I told mine right at the start that we didn't want to know and she said don't worry I won't let you see anything and I certainly couldn't make anything out! x

I saw it was a boy before she said. If u don't want to know she'll turn the screen before checking down there on the baby.

hiya hun mine was half 1 too they just come back off their dinner when it was my appointment and didnt wait too long after 1.30 :)

ive never known anybody to be accidently told some sonographers will say he or she but it doesnt mean thats what it is alot do refer there babies leg or arm ect
