hey everyone.
i have my 16week M/w appointment next friday (22nd)
i was wondering, what happens at this appointment?

Thank you x x x

Midwife takes your blood pressure, tests your urine, feels your tummy to see if your uterus is in the right place and listens to LO's heartbeat...I think that's it????? Mine always asks how I'm doing and if I have any questions.
Don't know if I've missed anything...I'm sure someone willl tell you if I have.
Hope it goes ok chick. :D

xxxxxx

What Sarah said really.

Maybe bloods if they've not taken them already, but other than that, nothing exciting.

Just take a urine sample with you :)

They are pretty much the same. Always dip urine, check BP, check baby, maybe listen to heartbeat and have a chat if there is anything you want to talk about.

Mine at 16, 20, 24 and 28 weeks have been the same. Had bloods done at 28 weeks also.

my midwife must be rubbish then. she never asked for urine even at my 12 week appointment i had to take it to her this time as i know you have to have it checked and she never dipped it. think she is just going to send it off. she didn't feel my tummy or ask how i was and only found the babys heartbeat and checked my blood pressure because i asked her. maybe she doesn't like me as i haven't wanted to have a blood test yet. i have my next appointment at 22 weeks so i will have one then as i thought my blood group was already on record as i only had some blood tests a few years ago but she has checked and there is no record of blood group so i'll have blood taken next time

aww samanthajayne that doesnt sound too good, hope things improve

like has been said above as to what they do, i had bloods done at my 12 and 16 week, but that could be for other reasons as i had problems last time. Ive had to take urine samples everytime i've seen them, so its best to take one to be sure. my HV was trying to play with Piglet lol to get him to kick haha, she seems really nice, and made me feel really relaxed about things. anything i wanted to know she answered, hope yours is nice too x

I have mine on 22nd too! Loking forward to hearing the heartbeat x

That sounds a bit crap :(

I'd have bloods done as they screen for loads of things, not just blood group. They can't find a record of mine atm (even though I had bloods taken at 12 weeks for it and another at 16) so I had to have an extra vial taken yesterday for my routine 28 week bloods. And another one in 3 weeks to test for blood sugar.

I always take a urine sample regardless. They only have to dip it with a stick then and there. Don't be afraid to ask her to dip your urine and give you the result. Say you are interested as its not been done yet and you'd like to know all is well.

I'm a great believer in asking and am not shy about opening my mouth politely  I hate just accepting something and then walking out the door and being cross, worried or regretting it later. I'm the same with the hairdresser, I won't leave his chair till I am happy he has got it right, if not I make him change it then and there. Sod walking out and being miserable with it for a month. And my GP knows I'll ask all my questions before I walk out the door, so is usually well prepared when she sees me   MW has gotten used to that also, but its good.

My appointment at 16 weeks was my booking apointment so I got everything done - bloods, bp, history, height and weight.

My next one was at 22 weeks with the doctor and that was urine and general checkup and I got my notes finally.

I just had a 28 week appoinment and had BP, bloods, urine, fundal hieght and general checkup.

I have one at 32 weeks - same as before but no bloods
then every 2 weeks - 34,36,38,and 40 with bloods at 36 and 40.
