What happened at your first doctors appointment?

I'm full of questions tonight!

I'm hoping to go to the doctors next week to get the ball rolling. Just wondered what happens - blood tests? Internal examination?

Had to take another pregnancy test and got given some leaflets lol asked if it was wanted blah blah. Going in tomorrow for blood test.

i had my doc appointment last week and she just said congrats and arranged a midwife appointment. last time though she measured my height na dweight but apparently thats the job of the midwife now. good luck

we got asked that and as we had emma with us she said are you sure you just didnt get carried away with how cute emma was?

I had mine today and to be honest I wasn't very happy with how it went. Mt doctor left me feeling very negative and said he would arrange with the midwife to contact me around 10 to 11 weeks. I had no tests or anything.

Don't worry though, if you know your doctors nice then I'm sure it will be fine.

Many doctors don't test, but take you at your word. The tests they use are the same as the ones we buy over the counter. So don't feel bad. Its pretty normal all they do is say congratulations, book with the MW frmo 8 weeks onwards for booking in etc. They really don't do anything else so early on. Mainly as there is nothing to do.

I didn't bother with my doc this time (he just gave me the number of the midwife office and told me to make arrangements for a booking appointment last time).

Because I had a missed miscarriage last time (about 7 weeks) I got my booking appointment for 6 weeks (today actually) and she is going to arrange an early scan because of the miscarriage.

With my daughter things moved more slowly but I assume that was because I had no history of problems.

I made an appointment with doctor when I first found out at about 7 weeks. All she did was congratulate me, check my blood pressure and ask if I'd been taking folic acid, offered a prescription for it if I didn't have enough already. She then arranged an appointment for me with the midwife the following week. At the midwife appointment, she checked my height, weight, BP and took blood tests. She also filled out my records with details of OH and my health and contact details, and gave us lots of booklets and information to take away and read.

At my docs app, she just said she knew I was coming to tell her that! (lol she psychic I think!) Congratulated me and made me an app for a scan (because I had no idea on dates) and an app with the midwife!
At the midwife app, she just filled in the notes, took my blood pressure and that was that!
I will be having my bloods took when I go for my 12 weeks scan!
