Alex has been on mushed down veg or fruit for a couple of months now. He has it twice a day. Im just wondering at what point you're meant to start introducing other things. Also, when can he start having our meals mushed down?

 Hi...It looks like our Lo's are about the same age.
Violet has 3 meals a day. Most of it is still purees tbh.
breakfast....baby porridge,or weetabix with full fat milk and a piece of toast cut into soilders!
dinner-puree.....she likes cauliflower cheese, chicken and tomato or a veg one I usaully give her a baby rice cake too and a yoghurt for pudding.
Tea is similar to dinner except she has fruit puree for pudding or some bannana.

Violet definately prefers no lumps unless it's something really solid like a breadstick or a piece of toast...she like feeding herself these things. But something like spaghetti bol...she still gags and is sick...I keep trying her tho and she'll get used to it.

I think you can introduce lots of things now your Lo is 6 months...just expect some gagging at first. :D

Edit...to add.....just looked and our LO's are exactly the same age!!! :cheer:

I'd start now with new foods as he is at a really good age to move on and learn and adapt.

We didn't give purees but did BLW and LO is on everything from toast or Weetabix/porridge for breakfast, sandwiches/pittas, fruit for lunch and a main meal of what we are eating in the evening. He munches most things from spag bol and fish pie to beans on toast and roast duck :) Plus veggie sticks, natural yogurt, fruit and other things.

I'd introduce more texture with things like finger foods. Toast with butter in soldiers for breakfast. You can also do lumpier puree type foods still.

Your LO is at the age where the gag reflex is in place so should be able to start coping with different textures etc.

Over 6 months and dairy etc is o to eat. Full fat milk and butter etc are good. Also bread, pasta, rice and all those things. A few things to still avoid but other than that, let your LO start exploring new flavours and textures. Its not about how much he eats but the learning and tasting etc.

I'm about to stop Sam's dreamfeed this weekend, and when I do I'll start introducing breakfast as he'll be extra hungry. Will probably do orgain porridge made with CB water to begin with, ot I've got some Organix Banana Porridge in the cupboard.

We originally started him off a week before 6 months on veg and baby rice. He doesn't have any fruit at this stage. He really enjoys his veg and gets a full range. Tried him on banana once but he turned his nose up and had a nasty nappy the next day. Will try it again in a couple of weeks.

So at about 11.30am he has 'lunch'. I've just started to introduce some other things along with the veg; red lentils, green lentils and quinoa. The other day sweet potato, cauliflower and quinoa went down really well, as did spinach and quinoa. Red lentils and green beans were good. However, today beetroot and green lentils didn't go down too well lol!

Then just before 6pm he has dinner, again, 2 veg and lentils or quinoa. He has his meals mushed rather than pureed.

Am going to start finger foods in a couple of weeks.

Maia basically eats what we eat, we started off BLW so finger foods from the start.

For breakfast we have either toast with butter, porridge, cheerios, crumpet.

Lunch can be anything form jacket potato with cheese, cheese on toast, ham sandwich, omlette, pasta bake or any left overs from teh previous nights tea, and usually finish off with fruit.

We tend to have a very good variety of foods for tea for for example here's what we have had this week:-

Saturday - Fish goujons and potato wedges
Sunday - Chilli with rice & pitta
Monday - Lasagne
Tuesday - Roast chicken dinner with veggies
Wednesday - Roast chicken and pimiento pepper risotto
Thursday - Butternut squash soup & bread (I saved some pieces of squash for Maia to eat with her soup and bread)
Friday - Sausage, mash & peas

I usually finish tea off with a yoghurt.

You would certainly be able to give your LO the same as what youre having and mash it down, just try and leave it a bit lumpy. Also watch out for packets and jars of sauces and stock cubes as they tend to have lots of salt, wherever possible make your own sauces its cheaper, and no added salt.
