we had ruby may but a little girl called ruby has started baby and toddler called ruby and her mum says she has.loads called ruby in her class so has put me off. we are now thinking Temperence ... its and old English name but is it too out there? x

I'm not so sure about it Hun, sorry!! I think I'd be on concerned about other kids at school. But then again maybe they wouldn't bat an eyelid and it's just me. I taught a kid called Wesley last year and he didn't get any comments x

i don't know what they would say, kids are stupid they called me specky Becky and i didn't wear glasses haha. thanks for been honest though its what i want!!

ive got to admit im not a fan! i can imagine them windin her up at school then sayin 'dont lose your temper'. kids can be cruel xx

really? i don't really worry.about kids like i say they.will pick on someone no matter what there name is. i like it anyway i don't like most normal names lol x

Ruby is nice, but as you say quite popular. I love unusual , but not out there names myself, but not totally sure on Temperance as if shortened , eg Prudence , can be Pru, which is nice, but Temper? Patience? Theadora? (not sure on spelling). Or what about Constance?

Honestly, it's not for me, but then could my boys names be anymore ordinary! lol If you love it then go for it x

I just googled it and apparently it means "Moderation". I'm not keen on it though, I don't like that it can't be shortened into anything decent.

I remember when I called my son Connor, and when he started school there were loads of Connor's everywhere! then I moved house so he moved school and there was only 1 other Connor there . Now he is 16 and on Facebook and I just had a look through his friends list and he has 6 Connor's on it lol. So I personally think it's where you live, some area's might have loads of Ruby's and just a town away has no Ruby's at all. I wouldn't let it change my mind on a name I really love xxx

we would call her tempy for short. we call Alice al which we didn't mean to it happened and its a mans name lol. i have gone off ruby tbh there is time yet though thanks for all imput though its all been taken into account x

I have to admit I am not a fan of Temperance either, but then I dont like my name shortened either.

I LOVE Temperance. I think it is beautiful and I much prefer it to Ruby.

I know someone who had twin girl and named one Tempest (other twin is Beatrix) which I love too. She goes by Tess for short.

And you are right, if children want to tease someone they will and will find a way regardless of whatever their name is.

Not for me and tempy sounds odd to my ears sorry

Much prefer ruby

 fapatalking

If she is having a tantrum you can call her Tiny Tempah :D until she's bigger of course lol xxx

Really Tempy sounds cute to me, like Teddy for a boy.
I was expecting most people not to like it, i want something a bit different and if everyone liked the name it would be popular ifykwim? Im liking it more and more as i say and think about it, im a big fan of older names and so like Beatrix - oh didnt though
When Alice is having a paddy i call her Lady Jane- nothing to do with her name whatsoever lol! xx

Lol to me.sounds like 10p may just be my accent

Mind you I like seraphina so I can't.talk lol

 fapatalking
