I have really been struggling with girls names, everytime I think of something I like OH isn't that keen or I quickly change my mind.

Recently the name Lana has really been growing on us and it was a definate favourite until 2 mins ago when I googled it and someone mentioned on another forum that backwards it spelt anal. Part of me thinks that this doesn't matter and its a bit immature and childish for anyone to mention it. But another part of me thinks would this cause problems for a child at school etc?

What do you think? Would you still use it?

Sorry, that did make me giggle! I would never have thought that, but I guess kids might. But on the other hand, kids will do anything to anyones name to make it rude. My Mum's maiden name was Lewis and she got bullied with people calling her Poois

I think if you like it, then go for it. I think it's lovely!

Yes, you really have got to take these things into consideration!!

Even the most normal names can be mauled. At my school Lucy became Loo Seat and Stephanie became Stiff Fanny (i know really really childish but it happened).

Lana is really nice, but the backwards thing will be noticed.

Cant you just change the spelling?

Larna, Lanah, etc Or Lara?

It is so annoying because I now really love the name! Not to keen on changing the spelling, I know some people like having unusual spellings and it's a personal choice but I think it just looks like it has been made up.

As you say kids will change the most normal of names and make it sound rude, think this can be an argument for and against using the name Lana

The first thing I thought when I heard the name was that it was beautiful! If you like it then dont let something like that ruin it for you!

Or Lorna, or my girls name Lyra ? but I would never have thought to spell it backwards tho

i know a girl called lana, and for as long as i remember no one has ever made that reference it is a lovely name and kids can be cruel about any name if they want to!! xxx

I used to know a girl called Alanah and obviously 'lana' is in the middle,
the only person that ever really pointed it out as far as I know was her best friend, as a joke!
I wouldn't worry to be honest X
