Hiya, how are we all today?

I have a baby heartbeat monitor/doper, I use it all the time. I am 10W+4D today and even now I use it! I love it.
I first started using it at 8Weeks I heard something that sounded like waves, down on my left side of my belly.

Can anyone help me on what the correct sound sounds like, I should listen out for? I'm asking this because although I do known what a heartbeat should sound like, i'm not sure now. Also what do you guys think to baby heartbeat monitors/dopers?

The babies heart beat will be a fast thudding noise, like a horse cantering (like a quick count of 1-2-3, 1-2-3). It's not a whooshing noise, and you will hear your own pulse down there as well as the umbilical pulse etc too so try not to confuse those with babies heart. Start up just below your belly button and work slowly down to you pubic bone until you can hear the distinct, fast heart beat (much faster than your own). Sonetimes it can be difficult to find, you may have to press on a little and hold the doppler at different angles until you find it :)

Yeah, I think I have found it once, this was on the left side right down near my growin area?? Is that correct were it supposed to be? Im pretty sure its a heartbeat?

So I love my doppler! I have used it since about 10.5/ 11 weeks.

Finding your baby's hb can take some time and practice. Don't worry if you do not find it right away, your baby is still pretty small.

The whooshing/ wave sounds are your placenta and has a hb of about 130, the fast train like sound is your baby's hb (usually 140+), and then there is yours which is slower.

I found our baby girl's hb for the longest on my left side until about 14/15 weeks and then I found her on the right side. It will be lower right around your pubic bone and you may have to move the wand like a joy stick to find your baby's hb and slowly around the lower part of your abdomen.

Your baby's hb should be significantly faster than yours and when you hear it, you'll know it isn't anything but your baby's. Try not to excessively use the doppler. We used it daily for about 4/5 weeks for only about 5 minutes at a time.

Best of luck! <3

I am 10W+4D today so, when I have been doing it at 8W do you think that would/will be the baby's hb?

Your baby's hb should have been between 120 and 160 at 8 weeks. At 10.5 weeks, maybe even as high at 170.

If you were hearing waves and not a fast train like thumping then that was most likely your placenta.

I would keep moving the doppler wand around and find the much faster hb. If you have an anterior placenta, you might not find it right away and it might be deeper so you might need to press down a little harder.
