On the fence with this name for our little boy. We both love it. And have for years. Our parents hate it & most people I tell think it's silly. Honest answer?? X

Sorry but it not my cup of tea. Not my child either though so it doesn't matter what I think! If you both love it then go for it!

It's a bit too out there for me I'm afraid.

Think it's actually getting quite popular, when I had my lo 2 months ago there had been two babies born with that name in the week or so before I was in. It's not a name I'd choose and I think you'd have to be a confident person to pull that name off but if you like it go for it x

I really like unusual names, and I'm loving Fox. I don't know if I'm brave enough to go that out there though, definitely go for it if you both love it! I do also think it depends on your other child's name, I don't think you could have for example a Sophie then a fox if you know what I mean! Xx

Yes our daughters name is slightly out there although getting more & more popular over the years but I'm still yet to meet another.

Thanks for the honest replies everyone! X

I think that nowadays, mainly with celebrity influences, people are more accustomed to "out there names". I've known a few people throughout different paths in my life who went by Fox, but not necessarily as their legal first name.

I think that if you love it, and can bring up your child to be proud of a name that may not be so common, then it's ultimately down to you.

I'm struggling to find a boy's name I love. I don't want one that's terribly common (I'm Emma and my partner is a James so we're always used to having like 456 children in our year with the same name!) but at the same time, I don't want a name that's going to put him in the centre of attention and make him self conscious - especially if he wanted to go through a serious career path in his adult life. (I'm mean, could you imagine having a police officer or doctor show up in your hour of need with a name like Buddy Bear?! What.)

That being said, I don't think Fox is that ridiculous. Now Badger on the other hand....

Too out there for me. I met someone a few months ago who had named her boys Fox and then...Hunter! Say no more. My mum however, who, if I called my child Fox, would say I'm ridiculous, said she liked it! X

Hunter is also one of our options! Obviously Fox Hunter is out of the question  but Hunter is getting real popular these days. And I really don't like the idea of there being lots of kids with the same name as my little ones.

My parents HATE the name Fox & so does my other halfs parents. But they like names like Andrew... and I really don't want a name that could easily belong to a guy I went to school with! *rolleye*

Argh choosing a name is hard. X

You shouldn't discuss potential baby names with parents haha! They can't say they hate it when he arrives! Well they could, but that wouldn't go down well I'm sure! quite like Hunter X

And it is so difficult. I'm not keen on too traditional boys named like Andrew, Christopher etc and yes I went to school with 4 Andrews and Christophers!

I find boys names difficult as I don't like many. I like boys like Benjamin and Joshua but not Ben and Josh! I like about 20 girls names haha X

I like lots of girls names this time. Which is annoying as when I had my daughter I liked lots of boys names and hardly any girls names. Yeh lots of Andrews, Chris', Johns, Kierons, etc. I used to love Josh when I was young that was my name I had picked out.

I quite like Lake, that's kind of out OUT there. But we live in the Lake District & I find it quite fitting. But OH said no chance. Lol x

My in laws are the same with names, I've made it very clear to them that it will not be a traditional name and they're thankfully starting to accept it

I love lake, that's gorgeous. We have an easy surname that goes with a lot, but it's only one syllable so limits us in that sense! I agree hunter is getting a bit popular, when I hear a name a few times it puts me off xx

Lol if my daughter (Anya) had been a boy I think we would have gone with loki or something a bit more put there. i dontvlike common names either.
My cousins have boys called
ziggy
maverick
Tiger
And a girl called storm.
My son has a more normal name we chose it 6 years or so before we had him and back then there was no one called Connor then it became mega popular! But by some fluke he's the only one in his school with the name!

Tiger is cool! OH likes Bear and Hawk but they're a bit too out there for me.

Anya is nice. I had Esmee for a girl, which I'm in love with now & will never be able to use it. Unless I convince my brother to use it lol

Daughter wants "Baby Jake" from the TV show! Lol

Connor is nice my friends son is Connor, I think he's 5. I don't know any others though. The only people I meet with my daughters name are dogs! Good or bad thing??? Haha her name is Luna xx

I love Luna. I like Fox better than Hunter but both are pet names for me (used to ride a pony called Fox and had a dog called Hunter!), funny how you associate things and once you do you can't stop thinking about them. Lake is pretty cool, not sure if people would mishear it as Blake though? Hawk is super as long as he didn't need glasses! What else are you considering?

How about Leo, Sol, Seth, Magnus, Evan, Cole, Ruairi?

Hawk reminds me of the twin peaks character awesome name. And I love Cole that was on my boys list. I totally get what you mean boutvthe name thing though. Thankfully the horses I rode were called vodka her daughter orange (miraculous conception there too lol) blaze and Sampson. It's amazing how horses take on their names personalities too lol (vodka turned out to have a baby from a one night stand lol but was a very dozy horse, blaze was a head strong stallion who if you gave him an inch he would gallop away uncontrollably and Sampson was a huge beast he must have had shire in his genes somewhere I only rode him once and it hurt afterwards lol)

I read a name this morning and it made me think of you... Wilder? Xx

I like Sol, the sun/moon thing would be pretty cool!

I like Seth but my cousin had a baby last week & named him Seth. I also like Cole (aunt had a dog called Cole) but OH vito'd it! Lol

Wilder reminds me of Gene Wilder & I can't get passed that! Lol

X
