I believe I should be in this section now  :)

Just a quick question as I feel like a newbie to TTC all over again now that I will be taking the next step!

I have been checked out once 3 months ago just with 21 bloods and all seemed fine bar I had low iron.. I was prescribed Iron tablets and told to come back for another blood test in 3 months if we hadn't gotten our BFP..

So... I believe if they come back fine.. the next step is to test OH???

We both have differant doctors so will this be difficult?? What does he have to do?

Bare in mind we HAVE fallen pregnant before so because it happened out of the blue, I don't know if it was a fluke chance or since then one of us has picked up a problem somewhere along the way??

I had quite a bad experience with my misscarriage so I am starting to believe it may have left me infertile or something is majorly damaged (paraniod maybe).

I just need somebody to explain the next steps I need to take as it all gets a lil overwhelming after you hit the 1 year mark :(

Hiya Lou!

Welcome to the section where rubbish ttc'ers come for their babies ;)

I can understand a miscarriage being a bit of a reality check, but i really really doubt that it has caused something to be wrong with you.

The low iron is actually quite a big deal, it is so super important for fertility and pregnancy... hopefully the tablets have sorted you out.

I'm sure i remember you referring to yourself as underweight? That is also a big deal. Besides the fact that i prefer everyone else to be as fat or fatter then myself for my self esteem, to be underweight is to be malnurished and that isn't going to make your efforts any easier.

The good news is that your miscarriage and chemicals mean it is very unlikely that something serious is wrong with your OH anyway, so that should make it easier to talk him into going to see the doctor :)

You are right that it will be one of the next things needed to be done. You will also need your FSH bloods on cd 3 or 5 and an STI screening.

Those are really the next phase of diagnostics.

I do think it would be better if you shared the same doctor just to keep everything simple. You can then go as a couple and show you are in a serious relationship and both want a child :)

I'm really sorry about everything you've been through recently, but i'm sure glad that you're sticking around

Hi!

Im so sorry you had to end up here but hope you don't stay long!

Lots of luck and hope you get your bfp soon!

Hi Louize

Welcome to the section where you are allowed to do the most moaning! (I know I do!!). I'm sorry to hear about your problems and miscarriage. Hope you got the low iron sorted.

I am in basically the same position as you, ttc about 15 months and had m/c 13 months ago. Just found out I have PCOS and a polyp in my uterus, most likely stopping me from getting pg - my first steps were to see doc and explain problems (I had long cycles and mid-cycle bleeding as well as not getting pg), and after tests and scans, ask for a referral to fertility specialist. You have every right to be referred now you have been trying a year. I used to think GP's could offer good advice, but I have been given soooooooooo much conflicting advice that its deffo worth having a consultation with a specialist. Even if just to do tests and put your mind at rest.

With our referral, as soon as GP booked us in with the specialist we had to take a sperm sample to the hospital, and I had rubella immunity and chlymadia (its good that I can't spell this word, right!) blood tests - they will prob do these at GP's for you.

What are your cycles like? (i.e. how long etc) Its awful thinking there's something wrong after miscarriage isn't it? Feels like someone has played a really cruel trick.

Keep us posted and I hope you get things sorted! x x x x x

Hey ladies

Your advice is appreciated loads :)

Louise your deffo right about the Iron! Since taking the tablets I have noticed a huge improvement in my energy levels and my moods! (This next bit may sound weird but here goes...) I have also noticed an improvement in my CM and my AF... After my m/c I noticed my CM was non existant and what I noticed more so.. was my AF flow was very pinky red and extremely watery and light. Before the m/c it was always heavy, painful, and deep red and thick! Since taking the iron tablets the first month... My flow was a lil bit thick but still quite pink... Now this cycle it is very deep red and thick again.... (Good sign maybe??)

I got told two differant things about my weight.. My doctor examined me (without weighing me) and told me I looked like a decent weight for TTC. My Wii Fit told me im underweight. Hmmmm LOL - Who should I believe lol x

I agree about OH being fine and his lil swimmers being good. But I can't really get anywhere unless he is checked out... Which at the moment.. As much as I explain that to him.. He still is very very very uptight on the subject and I think its bothering him alot. I asked him to ring his docs last week and make an appointment. He said he would... I asked him about it again today and he said in a very moody tone " I have rang them but it was a waste of time and embarrasing enough talking to them about it so I don't want to talk about it again now" - It took alot to hold back my tongue. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Awww Im glad im sticking around too Loobs :) :hugs:

Sarah - My cycles are a tad unpredictable but not overly bad I guess. They could be worse. I have noted them down on Fertilty Friend for 10 cycles and this is how they have been;

30 days, 29 days, 39 days, 13 days, 27 days, 37 days, 31 days, 36 days, 33 days, 37 days.

I have started taking EPO now to try and regulate them a little bit so we will see what impact that makes.

I will keep you updated once I beat this information out of OH lol xx

As in KY?

I will take this opportunity to point out that i am rather fickle

I'm glad the iron tablets have been doing their thing :)

I can't believe i'm saying this but i would take the weight advice off the Wii Fit because at least it knows your exact height and weight lol

I know BMI isn't everything but it is as good as it gets for people who don't have loads of muscles :)

hi me and my hubby went through all the test and it turns out it was me i agree with louise and if your oh has to go for his test its fairly easy you give the sample they test it and get your results from the dr.........although it can be a bit of a wait to get the sample done hope this helps and good luck xxxx

Hi Lou!

Glad you're sticking around too!

Gosh I never knew you had crazy cycles like me too, they are soo similar to mine, my fertility doc doesn't seem to think they're a worry though, what about your doc?

Vitamin B6 is good for your cycles too Hun.

I get on well with my current GP and she gave me the sperm sample pot and Hubby did it at home and we just took it to the hospital with the form, maybe you could do that?

xx

When I went to see the consultant at the hosp I went on my own because OH couldn't get time off, but they gave me the pot for his sample and the lovely instructions to give to OH no problem. OH "produced" his sample and took it to hosp within the hour or whatever it is and then again when I went back on my own for a whole load of results they were quite happy just to give me sperm sample results too. Other than dropping his sample off wherever it's supposed to go, don't think OH really has to deal with docs, unless there is a problem and they need to do other tests?

Men...... wimps! They should try having that echovist scan thing...... that is one place balloons and dye is NOT supposed to go!
