for Ryan I mean...

nursery said he liked toast, so in keeping with their routine I made him some this morning but didn't know what to put on it so I put on a bit of utterly butterly just for the taste to not be too dry. i'm not gonna make him toast with it again though until I know it's definately ok cos I worry about salt content...

i tried him with a bit of marmite on bread yesterday (gave him my crusts lol) and he seemed ok with it... though is he allowed jam? or fish paste?

silly question probably but wanted to check!

x

I dont see how fishpaste would hurt - just check its salt and fat content. :D

I would like to know answer to this too as I have been putting a minimal amount of low salt spread so far

only thing i seem to have heard people put on the toast is marmite, but nat won't go near the stuff and it just seems a bit random i've not heard anyone really mention what they put on toast, just that they use it as finger food...

somebody must know the answer :D thanks mrs tommo i'll check out the fish paste contents. theres other flavours too like chicken paste, beef paste etc... not sure about those.. or dairylea maybe? :?

I use unsalted butter (full fat), dairylea (or other cream cheese), humous, banana, boiled egg or toasted cheese. Haven't really thought about using jam, marmalade or peanut butter yet but I kinda think that's more for older kids iykwim x

Yeah, exactly what she said.

I used to also wizz up some strawberries and raspberrys and let Arianna dip her toast in it

My DS has had toast and butter but he's also had beans on toast (I kinda mash the beans a tad), mashed banana on toast, marmite on toast, cheese spread (Dairylee) and egg - I wanted to avoid things like jam etc for the sugar content reason.

hi, i was informed by hv that jam and other sweet things are good for little ones to have as they burn the calories up straight away. especially once they find their feet. just make sure you brush teeth twice a day and it shouldnt be a problem. both my kids have had jam on toast but are not that keen. they just prefer marg on toast and have it every day.

u can get unsalted butter, or prehaps soft cheese ?

cheese spread
jam
tinned mackerel mashed onto it
melted cheese and tomato
lemon curd
mashed egg

there are lots of things you can bung onto toast :)

Doesnt marmite contain salt? i usually use flora and dairylea but these both contain salt too :?
