Now I know we are all tired but I had a horredous nights sleep last night, I had about 3 hours at best!

I am not drinking caffeine at the moment (personal choice) but do you reckon a cup of tea will help me out and then maybe another one later?

Or can I have a lucazade - or even a Coke?

I won't last until Midday otherwise.

Normally I'd just have called in sick (I am that tired - I've not had a sick day this year!) but I am leaving early on Monday for scan and coming in late next Thursday.

you should be fine with a cup of tea and then another later/midday cant for the life of me remember how much caffeine we are allow, but something in my babybrain say up to 2-3 cups of coffee, so i think you would be safe there Nat.

A small amount of caffeine a day is fine, I think you are allowed 200MG daily? A can of coke contains about 40mg and a cup of tea about 70-80mg so if this is what you need to get you going it is perfectly safe.
Hope you feel the energy burst that is supposed to come with tri 2 soon (but you are not alone, I haven't had yet either!) :)

Cheers ladies,

I've not had caffeine for months (I know I can have it, I just haven't wanted to) so it seems a shame to start again when I had finally weaned myself off of caffeine for the first time in years

This is not a pregnancy thing, I just could not sleep last night and now I feel like crawling under a rock, honestky my eyes are hanging out of their sockets and I have a headache!

Aww hun, i'd have a cuppa and see if it brings you round better. Hope you feel better soon

Aw hon, so sorry you're not sleeping properly and are so tired... I'm sleeping ok but am still constantly exhausted... I don't do caffiene either, but then I don't have to work, so I can rest when I need... Wish I could suggest something you can take, but like the others, I can only think of caffiene - maybe you could let yourself off one day as you're having such a bad one and have a little. I'm sure you're doing this, but lots of water too and eat loads - I always find this keeps me going a bit, even if it's just psychological... If you find any tricks to wake up, let me know as I'm fed up with feeling so exhausted all the time... Hugs and hope you get through the day:hugs:xxx ps if you don't feel any better in the afternoon, perhaps you could leave work early - at least they can see you made the effort to come in...!! xx

Thanks ladies,

Ceebee, I am pretty tired most of the time but this is a different level.

I suffrered occasional nights of insomnia prior to pregnancy (so I'd have one or two nights every few months when I just cannot sleep)

As I say I wouldn't have even come in but I'm taking over 4 hours unpaid leave in the next week so I need to be here - also someone else in my department is leaving at 4pm for an exam.

Grrrr, I'll be OK! A nice early night tonight will sort me right out.

Just about to have a cuppa now

Ino it sounds daft but drinking lots of water keeps me awake and as im craving raw carrots they seem to work to .. But the odd cuppa wont hurt i drink about 3 cups a day :/ .. Only thing my midwife told me to not drink alot of was coffee and coke x

I'm off the caffeine too, apart from the odd cup of tea at MILs house as she doesn't have decaf, but I have had the odd lucozade or coke and it really picks me up. However, the lack of caffeine and sugar that's in my diet means that they make me a bit exciteable lol.
Hope a bit of a caffeine fix sorts you out :)

I used to have 3 cups in a day that was my limit, until I reached tri three and I was so exhausted that I broke all the rules and baby is super fine :)

I started a serious detox after new year and a cruise using Elemis detox pills. All was going well until 6 weeks into the programme I got BFP!!! Id lost 19lbs and not ouched caffeine, alcohol, junk food etc!!! However, the only thing thats kept me going through the morning sickness which lasted late was fizzy juice. I have atleast 2 cans of coke or pepsi per day. The first week of feeling baby move proper as in big kicks or punches was a result of drinking a bottle of lucozade. it seemed to make her hyper!!! I loved it to start with but the moving about went on for about 6 hours and drove me daft. Then I started to feel like the worst mummy in the world for doing that to her! Wooops.

I have the odd cuppa now and again but more fizzy juice than tea. I am sure it will perk you right up and it does taste devine the very first one you have after so long off it. Im trying to cut right back and this week I am more interested in diluting juice thankfully. Not feeling so guilty!!!

Defo have a wee tea or coffee if you feel like it... Anything in moderation. My friend had a coffee every morning, one at lunch and a T when she got home from work, and all 3 of her babies are fine!
Days when I was really struggling at work I had a bottle of orange lucozade, and it really helped as a little sugar rush.
You could also have a banana or a mars bar.
Hope you get a better sleep soon.x

Hope you're getting through the day hon, now that you've had a bit of caffiene - don't forget - chocolate has some caffiene in too, so that might help!! :) xxx
