What are you doing to prepare while waiting?

I am very excited about starting to try for a baby, however - we have to wait until May until we can actually get on with it.

I am glad we have this time in a way, although I do wish it would hurry up and get here, as it means we have more time to prepare in certain ways.

I am currently studying with open university so I am trying to make sure I am well ahead with everything so not stressed when it comes to May (which will be when I need to start thinking about final assessments and exams)

I'm also taking my folic acid and other supplements, I would like to lose a stone too - so on slimming world and hoping the majority of it is off by the time we start trying (obviously once pregnant I will be trying to still eat healthy but not focusing on any weight loss)

We're also getting lots of date nights in and enjoying spending time together. We've spoken to my son, as he is 9 so understands it all a bit more and with him being older we were worried we might have to talk him around to the idea but he was actually very excited - so we've had to do the opposite and talk him round explaining that we don't know how long it will take and we might not have a baby for quite a while depending on how things go.

I haven't done anything to prepare yet. I spent last year loosing my babyweight and will probably spend the last part of this year gaining it back on lol! Good idea re folic acid. The earliest we would start ttc is may but it could get pushed back to later in the summer. Is there such a thing as starting too soon? Im keen to start preparing lol! It makes it more real and the wait seem less arduous;-) what are you studying? X

Haha - we're the opposite we are now discussing how early we could start.

We have a cruise booked for the beginning of August, we can't travel past 24 weeks pregnant so the earliest we could start trying is March which is my periods stay how they are would make us 23 weeks the week we come back. My brother told me yesterday he is planning on getting married on Feb the 17th next year, that news has prompted us to start trying two months earlier than planned - which would leave us just on the cusp of being able to go on the cruise if we fell straight away but would give us two months of trying before we're at the point where we'd be taking a brand new baby to a wedding. Although we have said we won't stop trying that month so if it comes to that that'd be what we would do.

We've pretty much decided on trying in April now instead of May and we will decide on whether we start in March based on when my period comes, I'm wary with the cruise in case the scan puts us further along than we are and they say we're over 24 weeks for the last week and then they don't let us sail.

I agree preparing does make it all more real and official haha.

I'm studying a maths degree
