I got by blood taken day it is day 23 of cycle.
I explained had been trying over 2 years and nothing happening ..
What will they be looking for?
I said does it not have to be day 21 and 3 she said no we can look at them and work it out .
Any clue?

I could be wrong but I think they are looking to see if you ovulated. They should have explained to you what they were looking for though surely? X

All we were told was it was to check hormone levels, this was the blood test the gp ordered before our first appointment at the fertility place :)

Fsh, Lh and oestrogen wont give accurate result on day 23. Like you said, it needs to be done early in cycle. My doctor said the same thing and all my levels came back normal. After a while of not getting pregnant I asked for them to repeat on day 3 and results were not normal ranges.
Some doctors fob you off or aren't that up to speed on fertility stuff xx

She mentioned anemia and thyroid and then started talking about something else.
I asked questions about painful periods etc and she was just saying totally normal etc ..even tho I don't think it is normal.
Anyway il wait for these results then after think il say il leave it a couple of months then try another doctor for more info

I am not sure if thyroids needs to checked on certain days.
Fsh, Lh and oestrogen before day 5
progesterone (ovulation) 7 days after ovulation. They call it day 21 bloods but depends on when you ov really.

Periods can of course be uncomfortable and somewhat painful but really excruciatingly painful periods are not normal. If the doctor isn't helpful then definitely try someone else. Good luck xx

Just wanted to second what lisey has said. It's important they do the right tests on the right days of your cycle. Some doctors really don't have a clue so if you're not happy, see someone else. Also make sure they actually do all the tests that a fertility referral needs. My GP was very happy to refer us and have our first appointment at the beginning of June. Got a letter the other day telling me that the GP hasn't done all the bloods they need :wall2: It wouldn't be an issue but it's going to be a bit of a job getting them done on the right cycle days before the appointment

Because I had been having problems with pain/blood in stool first couple of days on period I voiced this to doctor and said is it possible to be endometriosis? She said no.
No tests just no
Then she talks about referring for ivf
I don't want ivf,I want to get to the bottom of what's wrong with me before I go down that road.
She said boyfriend needs a semen sample.
I'm thinking of just paying private for a female fertility check ..it's £495 but includes everything and might be better than doctors fobbing me off.
I honestly feel like she wasn't bothered
The private place actually said the doctor could refer me for tests with or without a partner.
