Since I found out I was pregnant, I've wanted to do it as 'properly' as possible but after a recent visit to hospital, I was told I had something called GBS.

I don't know much about it but the midwife said it was quite common and all that I'd need to do was have antibiotics via a drip 4 hours before LO is born.

I'm really worried though because last time I had antibiotics through a drip, I went into respiritory (sp) arrest and now I'm absolutley terrified of it happening again, especially whilst in labour. OH and I have been discussing the possibility of an elective caesarean but I know you have to be approved etc.

Does anyone know what my chances would be of being successful? I'm really nervous about asking my midwife in case she says there's no chance.

Thanks for any help/advice!

Does your midwife know about what happened last time? x I would speak to her about what happened and your fears about it happening again instead of going straight in and asking for a section x midwife might recommend a section anyway or might be able to reassure you x

You should defo sit down and discuss options with her...and explain what happened last time. Goodluck hun and keep us posted xx

i actually dont know but i didnt want to read and run, but i agree with the girls, you should discuss any worries with your midwife..

Best of luck hun x

Yeah i agree with the girls, if it happened the first time round, your bound to be more panicky about it again, my friend had the exact same thinf (GBS) and had to go in hospital as soon as her waters broke and she ended up with a section because she wouldnt let them put the drip in her.

Let us know what mw says xx

I have this too and been told that I have to have anti-biotics but I haven't had the complications you have with the drip. Def ask your midwife. Have they put a sticker on your notes to say about it? They did with mine. x
