sorry for sounding really stupid but what are amber teething necklaces, bracelets etc? What do they do?

They're meant to help with teething problems/pain by releasing some substance or other when they're in contact with skin. Can't say I've noticed any difference since I put an anklet on Samira yesterday, but I know some mums swear by it, so who knows...

They take a while to work. My lo has worn an anklet since he was 3 months old. He has never shown any signs of discomfort when teething. Not even when 6 teeth cane through at the same time! Can't recommend them enough.

Roo3 did you put it on when she wasnt teething. I bought some ready for when it happens.

Beanster I've only heard good things about them. Give it a try.

Thanks ladies. Is there any safety issues with wearing them, choking etc? Where did you get them from?

Hi got mine from amber pumpkin online my middle son wore one from 1 yr old and really helped him . Rhea had an anklet and list it !! Now has a necklace which she has had on for a month she is teething now and has only needed a couple of teething powders as extra pain relief I buy them as gifts for everyone now !!! Also I've never taken the necklaces off my son still wears his now and he is 3 !!! Xxx

Kynon has had his on since about 3 months and hasn't suffered yet at all but he still has no teeth so time will tell I guess! They take a few weeks to take effect so not am instant cure so best wearing them before teething starts.

I spent a lot of time looking at these, mainly reading reviews etc on Amazon, but was really unconvinced. The fact that the baby wears it and so must be supervised with it on was worrying for me and also that there is no evidence really that it makes any difference.

I bought something called Teething Bling, which is fabulous, its a necklace that mummy wears, which looks like a real necklace but its actually made of silicone suitable for babies. So when my little one grabs my jewellery and puts it in his mouth it is actually there specially for him. I got the turquoise necklace and braclet. The bracelet looks rubbish, I dont recommend it as fashion wear, but it is useful to have a toy for him permanently on my wrist that i can pull of and hand him to chew when necessary. But the necklace is genuinely pretty and i might invest in some other colours. They have loads, they are about £12 or £5 for the bracelet. i went directly to the website because they take paypal and had more choice but again you can get it on amazon.

Yes, my lo wears his all the time, when he's in the bath, asleep etc. I only take it off when he goes swimming.

So glad to read here that they take some time to start working! Means there is still hope it will work for us, too!
